June is PTSD Awareness Month 💚

Trauma can affect children long after the moment of crisis has passed. For many, healing is a journey that takes time, support, and safe people along the way.

This month, we recognize the strength of survivors and the importance of creating communities where children and families feel seen, supported, and understood.

Caring conversations, quality time, and simply showing up can make a lasting difference in a child’s life. 💙

When children know they are seen, heard, and supported, they’re more likely to reach out during difficult moments. Prevention starts with connection.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remind the children in our lives that they never have to face challenges alone.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Mental health matters at every age, especially for children and teens. Creating safe spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and encouraged can make a powerful difference in their lives.

This month, we’re reminded of the importance of kindness, connection, and making sure children and families know support is always available in our community.

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Brittany Ricker 🌟

Brittany joined the CAC Board because of her passion for protecting children and helping create a safe, supportive place for healing. She believes the CAC’s mission represents hope, safety, and compassion for children and families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

As a board member, Brittany helps support the CAC through fundraising, outreach, and advocacy to ensure children continue receiving the care and support they deserve.
Brittany works part time as the Care Coordinator for Greene County Isaiah 117 House and full time as an Administrative Assistant at Blackburn, Childers & Steagall. Outside of work, she enjoys unwinding with a good book — especially true crime and love stories.

Thank you, Brittany, for your heart for children and your dedication to our community! 💙

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Christina Matthews

Christina Matthews was first introduced to the Child Advocacy Center about eight years ago while working with Greene County Juvenile Court. As Coordinator of Dependent and Neglect Cases and a member of the CPIT Team, she witnessed firsthand the critical role the CAC plays in supporting children and families during difficult circumstances. That experience inspired her to become more involved through board service.

Christina has dedicated her career to protecting and advocating for children. Today, she serves as Assistant Director of the Greene County Anti-Drug Coalition, where she continues working to strengthen and support families in our community.

To Christina, the mission of the CAC is deeply personal. She believes every child deserves to be heard, protected, and supported in a trauma-informed environment. She also recognizes the important role the CAC plays in helping agencies like DCS and law enforcement work together to seek truth and justice for children.💙💚
