FRIENDS - Today the Senate is voting TODAY on overturning a key provision of Dodd-Frank that helps people living in poverty around the world by letting them track the payments Big Oil makes to their governments. This allows them to demand that money get spent on the things that matter - like roads, schools, and healthcare.
We hear all the time from people who live in resource-rich, yet poor countries that they need more tools to fight corruption and poverty. This program doesn't cost tax-payers anything and helps those activists in countries all around the world follow the money and demand change.
Please like/share/comment - or even call your Senator and tell them you urge them to vote NO on Senate Joint Resolution 9. Call 1-888-252-2329 to be automatically routed to your Senator - you'll hear some talking points from yours truly before you are connected that you can pull from.
THANKS!
Are you going to vote for corruption today John McCain, U.S. Senator Susan Collins, Senator Angus S. King, Jr., Senator Bob Corker, Johnny Isakson, Senator David Perdue, Senator Marco Rubio, John Boozman, Cory Gardner, Senator Rob Portman, Senator Jeff Flake????
We are watching to make sure you vote NO on Senate Joint Resolution 9, which will overturn key progress we've made on fighting corruption around the world.
This vote would get rid of the Cardin-Lugar anti-corruption provision, one of the most important tools for people living in poverty to hold their governments accountable against corruption.
Cardin-Lugar requires oil and mining companies to publish the payments they make to governments around the world so citizens can follow the money and demand that governments pay for schools, roads, hospitals, and other critical investments that fight poverty.
Please like/share/comment on this post so we can get the attention of these Senators!
If any of these Senators represent your state, please call 1-888-252-2329 to be automatically connected with your Senator's office.
On behalf of people living in poverty around the world, THANK YOU!
