💪🌱 It has been a planting-Palooza at PLT this week! Thank you so much to the stellar students from Moscow Middle School for visiting Idler's Rest Nature Preserve to help pull invasive weeds and spread more natives seeds and plants around the Stage Memorial Garden.

Thanks to our many helping hands, several pounds of arrowleaf balsam root and yarrow have been seeded, and students learned about the value (and fun!) of land stewardship. Thank you for supporting learning landscapes and helping to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders.

🦋🌱 We had an awesome morning at the Olson Family Conservation Preserve with Deary School students planting milkweed seeds! Milkweed is the one and only food source for Monarch butterfly caterpillars, and planting is the single most important step we can take to support the species.

Thanks to conservation efforts and pollinator plantings, Monarch populations are up 64% this year! Want to support, too? Add native milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) to your yard or property this fall.

When the weeds get tough, the tough get... extremely precise. 🌱🎯

Keeping invasive weeds in check is one of the most important year-round stewardship jobs at the Dave Skinner Ecological Preserve. And sometimes, that means bringing out some seriously high-tech tools.

This spot-spraying equipment allows our stewardship team to target invasive plants with highly specific, carefully mapped herbicide applications, rather than treating entire areas.

It’s part of our Early Detection Rapid Response (EDRR) approach: find new infestations while they’re still small, deal with them before they spread, and give native plant communities a better chance to thrive.

It may not be the flashiest conservation work, but catching a problem early can make all the difference.

🌈🎶Somewhere, over the rainbows🎶!! This amazing shot was captured over the Olson Family Conservation Preserve, just outside of Deary. Thank you to the Keller family for sharing this sweet photo.

This 531-acre property is a sanctuary for wildlife and pollinators, home to rich heritage and history, and is a critical travel corridor for critters and birds of all kinds. While not yet open to the public, we are slowly making progress toward creating trails and visitor opportunities that will allow people to experience the Palouse in this unique place.
