Pinchot Partners WORKING ON COMMON GROUND in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest
watershed health | local jobs | sustainable recreation

The Pinchot Partners strive to bring together differing perspectives in an open and safe forum in order to discuss and create innovative projects that incorporate the fundamental principles of ecosystem management. Ecosystem management recognizes that social values play an integral role in how we manage our public forest land, and seeks to meet social needs while maintaining ecological integrity.

Guiding Principles:
+ Projects will focus on ecological, economic, and social objectives.
+ Every effort will be made to ensure participation of diverse stakeholders; the process will encourage participation, and be open and inclusive. Specific Focus:
+ Consider a watershed approach – basin or sub-basin analysis
+ Capacity – keep in mind that agency budget and staff is declining
+ Focus on results – a project that is do-able rather than high profile
+ Focus on projects that supplement what the FS is currently doing
+ Ensure the economic development is scaled: fits the community

In response to the recent flooding across Lewis County, United Way of Lewis County is working alongside Lewis County Emergency Management to support individuals and families impacted by this event.

As of December 12, 2025, we have activated a Flood Relief Fund to provide direct assistance for clean-up, recovery, and immediate needs. Funds will be distributed through an application process administered by Lewis County Emergency Management to ensure support reaches those most affected.

“United Way exists to bring people together in times of need,” said Annie Oien, Executive Director of United Way of Lewis County. “This fund will help families stabilize and begin the recovery process.”

💙 100% of donations go directly to flood relief efforts.https://www.lewiscountyuw.com/lewis-county-flood-relief

🌊 Know Someone Helping with Flood Cleanup? Let’s Feed Them! 🥔

We’re pulling out the big pots and making loads of Baked Potato Soup tomorrow at the Packwood Senior Center! Stop by at 1 pm to pick up soup and deliver it to our amazing community helpers working on flood cleanup.

The Packwood Senior Center will also be open for dropping off donations tomorrow from 11 am to 2 pm. We’re accepting donations of food, personal hygiene, and household items to support our Pantry, as well as monetary contributions for the Livable Packwood Winter Giving Tree and the Pantry.

If you can’t make it in tomorrow, you can still support our efforts by donating online: https://givebutter.com/Eo0N4Q — just select the program you want to support.

Thank you for helping us care for our neighbors and community heroes! 💙

Our staff have assessed conditions and are able to arrive safely to work today. And honestly, it feels like we all need to come together as a community right now.

We’ll move forward with Trivia as planned, and both Zest SriThai Mobile Food Trucks and Mountain View Wood Fired Pizza will be open and serving.

This storm’s impact will be felt for a long time. Many in our community have lost their homes, their sense of stability, and so much more. As we gather tonight, let’s hold space for one another to connect, to breathe, and to remember that we don’t weather storms alone.

Come as you are. We’re here for each other.

Lewis County is experiencing significant rainfall and widespread flooding. As our rivers rise and road conditions shift quickly, we want to remind everyone to put safety first while traveling, exploring, or going about your day.

Lewis County is a resilient community, and together we can keep each other safe.

Please exercise caution and stay safe during this flooding event!

We are monitoring the increasing flood threat to the region. We urge residents to be vigilant and to keep their safety -- as well as the safety of our emergency responders -- in mind.

Don't be fooled by this lull in the weather.
