Bullying thrives in silence. It flourishes in the spaces where young people feel isolated and unsupported. At Kingdom Youth Network, we know that kindness, when put into action, is a source of incredible strength. October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and we are kicking off a month-long focus on building safe, confident youth. Over the next four weeks, we will share a series of posts on:
â
Building self-confidence
â
Setting healthy boundaries
â
Developing crucial "upstander" skills
Join us in standing together, supporting one another, and showing the world that strength lies not in intimidation, but in compassion. Letâs create a culture of safety and confidence for every young person. đŞđ§Ą
3 Practical Steps for Caregivers to Support Your Youth:
1ď¸âŁ Open a consistent line of dialogue. Make regular space for your teen or young adult to talk about their day and their social world, beyond just school.
2ď¸âŁ Focus on problem-solving, not just reacting. When they come to you with a conflict, guide them through "what if" scenarios to help them find their own solutions and words to use, rather than jumping in to fix everything immediately.
3ď¸âŁ Reinforce their identity and purpose. Focus on their intrinsic value and unique strengths. Remind them that they are loved and have purpose, which builds an inner fortress of confidence.
Our mentors at KYN work to reinforce this confidence, providing consistent, non-judgmental guidance and helping your youth see their potential. When they feel truly seen and heard, they are empowered to stand tall and lead with kindness.
