A big Wopida Tanka to our visitors Emma, Anne, and Aaron for spending the day with us and working alongside our team on evaluations and surveys. We appreciate the time, conversation, and care you brought into our space!

And a big shoutout to our youth for showing up, participating, and making the day a fun one! 🙌🏽

We packed a lot into the day:
🎯 Dakota Bingo with plenty of laughs and friendly competition
🧀 A nacho bar because good food makes everything better
🛞 And we wrapped it all up with a wagon ride!

Learning, laughter, good food, connection, and a little adventure to finish it off. ❤️

🎒 WHAT A TURNOUT! 🎉

Our Back to School event was packed with fun, and we loved seeing so many youth, families, and community members come out and spend the evening with us!

The weather showed up for us too! ☀️🙌

One of our favorite parts was seeing Dakota language and culture mixed right into the fun, whether it was through Bingo, the horses, or simply being together as a community.

Pidamaya to everyone who came out and everyone behind the scenes who helped make it happen! ❤️

Now it’s time to send our youth into the new school year ready to go! 📚✏️

Headed to Dakota Wicohan’s Back to School Event tomorrow? While you’re there, don’t forget to get your children registered for our 2026–2027 After-School Programs! 🙌🏽

Programs are open to youth in grades 5–12 and include:

🐴 Beginner Horse Riding
🥁 Drum & Singing
🪶 Dakota Arts & Regalia Making
🗣️ Dakota Language
🌿 Cultural Teachings
🎶 Music is Medicine Workshops
🚌 Field Trips
✨ Youth groups & leadership opportunities

Youth also receive a nutritious meal and transportation home following each program!

📋 Enrollment packets must be completed each year, so tomorrow is the perfect opportunity to get yours taken care of while you’re at the Back to School Event!

Our after-school programs officially kick off September 15th at 3:30 p.m. at Dakota Wicohan.
