Eligibility Requirements for VFW Auxiliary Membership:
•Members must be citizens of the United States or a United States National, and at least 16 years old.
•Those eligible are: ◦Husband/Wife
◦Widower/Widow
◦Father/Mother
◦Grandfathers/Grandmothers
◦Sons/Daughters
◦Grandsons/Granddaughters
◦Brothers/Sisters


Of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of th

e United States. Those eligible for membership in the VFW are those that have received a campaign medal for overseas service; have served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea; or have ever received hostile fire or imminent danger pay.

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day in the United States, commemorating the signing of the agreement that ended World War I at 11:00 A.M., November 11, 1918. President Woodrow Wilson celebrated the first Armistice Day in 1919.

In 1938, November 11 became a legal holiday by an act of Congress.

In 1954, this federal hoiday was changed from “Armistice” to “Veterans” Day.

With sadness in our heart we must announce that the Morton VFW AUX Post 5921 is disbanding. Without new members or the involvement of our current members (and for last several months I have been guilty of that). We have lost a long time Aux member and Past Aux President of 17 years Mary Lou Traylor on July 8th. As her daughter I would like to thank the Aux for the card and monetary donation. I placed a wreath from the Aux on her grave today. God Bless You all.

I am announcing that this term I am going to be stepping down as the president of the VFW auxiliary to take care of my mom. I will still be doing the collections for our veterans to take to Quincy and to Peoria to our veterans and you are homeless so don't think I'm stepping away from everything God bless you all and thank you for all you have done for the VFW.. Thank you and God Bless You all.

Mays meeting has been temporarily been cancelled due to covid restrictions. Everyone stay healthy!

Community cupboard across from Eli's has been fully stocked there are also magazines in there that have been Lysol down even though they've been in my car to be put it in there for several weeks. god bless you all

Morton VFW auxiliary meeting for March has been canceled as well as possibly into April depending on how this goes we have too many members with immune-compromised situations that we cannot risk then getting ill
