We have GREAT NEWS! Each year our performances are adjudicated and our production of Tarzan was chosen as an “Outstaning Musical” by the Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards (MVHSTA)! This is a BIG DEAL. This means we will perform a number from the show on the stage of the Schuster Center during the student showcase. We are super excited for the students. We will perform the song “Trashin' the Camp" with a live orchestra on the same stage as Broadway touring shows.
In addition to the showcase, LMHS has several individual students who will be recognized at this event as well from both Peter and the Starcatcher and Tarzan Cast and Crews. Our very own Jack Sekela also won Outstanding Actor in a Musical for his role as Tarzan and scored in the top 10!! This is a huge accomplishment and we couldn't be prouder.
The Student Showcase is Tuesday, June 2 at 7:30pm at the Schuster Center (Dayton). Use the link below if you would like to purchase tickets to this event. It is a wonderful celebration of high school theatre in the Miami Valley.
THE GOALS OF MVHSTA:
To recognize, honor, and encourage excellence in high school theatre through a constructive review process of nominated productions by qualified adjudicators;
To provide educational workshops and advancement in dance, voice, acting, and stagecraft for high school students locally, regionally, and nationally;
To provide professional development and networking opportunities for students, directors, and school programs; and
To give students an opportunity to perform on a Dayton Live stage.
