🎓 Vendor Business School | Lesson #87
Booth Setup & Time-Saving Shortcuts
You know you packed those table clips. You can even picture the bag. Somehow, finding them still requires opening every tote you brought.
Little things like that can eat up your setup time—and your patience—before you’ve sold a single thing.
A good place to start is with whatever annoys you at every show. The tangled cords. The display that takes forever to assemble. The products you unpack, move out of the way, then move again. Pick one of those jobs and make it easier on yourself before the next event.
Sometimes the fix is small: a bag attached to the display for its hardware, a bin that opens straight into a stocked checkout station, or a tray of products that can travel safely without being taken apart. Try it at home with everything loaded so you know it’s comfortable to carry, too.
Solo vendors, give yourselves a realistic amount of time. You’re doing every trip and every task. Leave earlier, use the event’s allowed setup window and leave room for the unexpected.
If someone’s helping, let them own a whole job. “Set up this table using this photo” gives them somewhere to start and lets you keep working without answering a question every few minutes.
And watch those last-minute display tweaks. It’s easy to spend ten minutes moving one little shelf around! Get your products, prices and checkout ready first, then use any remaining time for finishing touches.
đź’ˇ BoothKeeper Takeaway:
Make the jobs you repeat at every show easier, so setup takes less of the time and energy you need for selling.
âś… Vendor Checkpoint:
Think through your last setup. Where did you stop to search, rearrange or move something twice? Pick one step to simplify before your next event.
đź’¬ Vendor Discussion:
What setup shortcut would you recommend to a new vendor preparing for their first show? Share a tip that could make their morning a little easier!
