Celebrating Juneteenth: A Legacy of Freedom, A Call to Service
Today, as we commemorate Juneteenth, we honor the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of those who endured unimaginable hardship while never surrendering hope.
June 19, 1865, marked the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is still worth fighting for, and justice requires both remembrance and action.
As members of The Links, Incorporated, we remain committed to preserving our history, empowering our communities, and creating pathways for future generations to thrive. Through friendship and service, we continue the work of those who came before us—uplifting voices, advancing equity, and ensuring that the promise of freedom is fully realized for all.
