Chabad at the White House

Earlier today, a delegation of Chabad representatives met with the President in the Oval Office, to discuss issues facing the Jewish community, including rising antisemitism and the health and safety of our sisters and brothers in the Holy Land. The delegation included Rabbi Mendy Herson, Director of Chabad of New Jersey, and Rabbi Eitan Webb, Director of Chabad at Princeton.

Chabad of New Jersey and its affiliates thank the President for his focused attention to issues facing our community.

UPDATE FROM THE LERMAN FAMILY AND CHABAD OF THE MEADOWLANDS

“One week ago our family and Chabad of the Meadowlands experienced a devastating fire that burned our Shul and home to the ground.

We are so grateful to Hashem for saving our lives in the most miraculous way!

We thank everyone for the outpouring of support, care and concern to help our community and our family during this difficult time.

We are grateful that our neighbor Felician University has given our Shul a temporary location for weekly Shabbos services, and our family is in the process of finding temporary housing where we hope to be able to live until the rebuilding process is completed.
Several large boxes of salvaged Hebrew books that were charred and waterlogged were buried in a small ceremony on our Shul grounds, and remains of three burned Torah Scrolls that were found in the rubble, will be buried in the the Shul cemetery at a later date.

Currently the shul is meeting with insurance adjusters along with an architect and engineer, to assess the next steps to rebuild our Shul and home on the property.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank everyone that has participated in the campaign, this has been helpful beyond words, and is brings us a tremendous sense of relief, comfort, and hope to our entire family and the Rutherford Jewish community.”

The Rabbinical College of America/Chabad of New Jersey thanks the generous participants in the campaign to enable the East Rutherford community to rebuild. To participate, follow the link in the comments:

EAST RUTHERFORD – Early this morning, the Chabad center in East Rutherford, led by Rabbi Yitzchok and Bina Lerman, went up in flames. Thank G-d, the Lermans and their children are safe. The Lermans are comforting their community and have vowed to rebuild and continue the critical work Chabad of Southern Bergen County does for the community.

Chabad of New Jersey and all of our chapters are coming together to help them rebuild, join us by following the link in the comments.

The Lermans have directed Chabad of Southern Bergen County since 2014. In addition to directing the Chabad, Rabbi Lerman serves as a professor of Talmudic Studies at the Rabbinical College of America as well as a Reserve Chaplain in the United States Air Force.
