Tennessee Valley Housing Services Public Housing & Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) The Morristown Housing Authority was formed in 1952 in Morristown, TN.

It began with public housing units and later expanded to include Section 8 Existing Certificates, now known as the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

Today, Morristown Housing Authority manages 672 public housing units and includes a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program that issues a combined total of 424 vouchers.

🎉 **BIG NEWS!** 🎉
Tennessee Valley Housing Services has officially closed on the RAD conversion for OneFiveNine Apartments!

This is a major milestone for our agency and one we have been working toward for quite some time. Through this conversion, TVHS will be able to invest millions of dollars in renovations and improvements to these homes while preserving affordable housing for the families we serve.

With closing complete, we can now move into the next phase of the project. Resident relocation and new lease signings are beginning, with construction expected to start in the coming weeks.

We are incredibly thankful for our TVHS staff, Board of Commissioners, residents, partners, and everyone who has played a part in getting us to this point. It has taken a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes, and we are excited to finally see this project move from planning to progress.

The OneFiveNine Apartments project is officially moving forward, and we can’t wait to share the progress along the way! 🏠🔨

Last week, we were proud to welcome staff from more than 12 housing agencies for two days of HOTMA training!

Professional development is an important part of the work we do, helping our teams stay informed, strengthen their knowledge, and better serve the communities we represent.

A big thank you to our NAHRO trainer for sharing their expertise and to everyone who traveled to Morristown to learn alongside us. We appreciate the collaboration, great conversations, and commitment to continued learning from housing professionals across our region!

We were pleased to welcome Kim Cordell, representing U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn's office, to our recent Open House!

Kim had the opportunity to tour our renovated model unit, learn more about the OneFiveNine project, and see firsthand some of the exciting work happening within our communities.

We believe it’s important to maintain open communication with our elected officials and their representatives and to keep them connected to the work, needs, and progress happening right here in our community. Those relationships create opportunities for meaningful conversations and help ensure our communities have a voice.

We had almost 90 people join us for our Open House, and we can’t thank you enough for such an incredible turnout! 🏡💙

We loved getting to visit with everyone, hear your feedback, answer questions, and give you a closer look at what’s ahead. Your participation and feedback throughout this process are so important to us, and we truly appreciate everyone who took the time to come tour the renovated unit.

We are incredibly excited about the progress being made and what’s ahead for OneFiveNine Apartments, and we hope you’re just as excited as we are!

There are some days that quietly remind us just how much a community can accomplish when people come together to help one another.

This week was one of those days.

Through a wonderful partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, several children in our communities received brand-new beds, complete with mattresses and bedding. For some, it's more than just a new place to sleep—it's a place that's truly their own.

A special thank you to Mark Wisecarver of First Baptist Church Morristown, along with our Resident Services Coordinator, Constance Hansen, for helping make each delivery possible. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and gratitude from the families made every moment worthwhile.

We also want to be transparent that this opportunity was made possible through a specific partnership and selection process and is not an open application at this time. We're incredibly thankful for community partners who continue to invest in the well-being of local families.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time, resources, and heart to make this happen. It's amazing what can be accomplished when neighbors care for neighbors. ❤️
