🎉 As the school year comes to a close, we're celebrating 180 Days of Impact across all 10 Morris School District schools!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, students experienced hands-on STEM learning, arts enrichment, literacy programs, mentorship opportunities, wellness initiatives, and so much more throughout the year.

Even as the school year winds down, the MEF continues investing in students through newly awarded grants that will impact next year and beyond, including:

✨ Dramatic Play for Kindergarten students at Woodland School

The school year may be winding down, but exciting opportunities are just getting started at Morristown High School!

Launching this fall, the Artisan Academy will empower creative students to transform their artistic talents into future careers through hands-on learning and real-world experience.

Read how MHS teachers Mr. Jim Boothby and Ms. Liz Ostendorp brought this innovative vision to life and created a pathway where passion, creativity, and entrepreneurship come together.

A special thank you to Frank and Kay Failla of the Lauren & Emily Failla Foundation and MHS Principal Mr. Mark Manning for their generosity and commitment to expanding opportunities for students. ❤️

It started, like many things at Morristown High School probably do, with social media. Ceramics and fine arts teacher Liz Ostendorp and industrial arts teacher Jim Boothby (both in photo, above) had started to notice that makerspaces—communal workshops, typically outfitted with shared 3D printers ...

🔬🦖 From dinosaurs and exotic animals to advanced chemistry labs, STEM learning came alive across the Morris School District this year thanks to donor support through MEF's 180 Days of Impact campaign.

At all seven elementary schools, students are exploring science through programs like Dinosaurs Rock, Nature Nick, and Mad Science, sparking curiosity and inspiring a love of discovery.

As Woodland Science teacher Ms. Noelle Mortillo shared:

💬 "The students were absolutely captivated by the life-size dinosaur fossils and hands-on presentation. Their excitement, curiosity, and engagement throughout the program were incredible to see, and the experience sparked so many thoughtful questions and conversations that continued long after the assembly ended."

At Morristown High School, MEF-funded chemistry equipment and academic resources are helping Honors and AP Chemistry students gain hands-on experience that prepares them for college and beyond. Feedback from alumni even noted the following:

💬 "Morristown High School has equipment that even colleges do not provide in their introductory chemistry courses."

For 180 days this school year, MEF-funded arts programs have helped students across all 10 Morris School District schools find their voice, express their creativity, and build confidence — every student, every day. 🎭🎶📸

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students are benefiting from upgraded theatre microphones, new mallet percussion and baritones for music programs, professional photography equipment, and cultural arts experiences that broaden perspectives and inspire creativity.

But the true impact is best shared by the students themselves:

💬 “It was so cool to work with a real author. They showed me that there are no wrong ideas with creative writing.” — 2nd-grade student

💬 “I loved how unique the dances are, how different and how much it taught me. Loved the karate included.” — 6th-grade student

💬 “Using the new baritones this season was a very positive experience for everyone due to their excellent tone quality and smooth valves.” — MHS Senior

These opportunities are helping students be seen and heard in classrooms, on stages, and throughout our community.
