Today I received a wonderful text from a survivor with some incredible news! They just started breaking ground on a house for her and her family, along with a big garden!
Can I just say, their journey has been a long one, but one filled with overcoming news…over and over! Having provided advocacy for them for 10+ years, since they walked off the plane after being relocated from the state she exited her trafficking situation…long term advocacy fills my heart with joy as they are getting their own home.
They have lived in shelters, Section 8, and apartments that we had to work towards getting them out of. After living in the last apartment for many years that helped provide them with stability, safety, and their own autonomy…they have friends building them their very own home. And they are elated with peace and gratitude!
May I just say. Every single person alive has a life story. Filled with highs and lows. But every single day we have something to be thankful for. And if you have a home, be thankful for it. It doesn’t mean it’s your forever home, but it is a home.
Human trafficking thought it was going to rob them of their peace and stability. They are fighters and have fought through so much to get here! As an advocate and friend…my heart is sooooooo full for them!
We call these Freedom Days!!!
