Emergency! We need your help. We have learned that there may be plans to build a border wall through the National Butterfly Center -- https://www.abc27.com/news/wildlife-refuge-historical-sites-vulnerable-to-border-wall-construction/amp/
For the past eight years, the National Butterfly Center, has been exempted from border wall construction. If a border wall is constructed through the National Butterfly Center, we will effectively lose the ability to use 70 of the 100 acres of our land.
Please contact your local congressperson immediately and ask them to add the following into the upcoming Appropriation Act
“SEC. 209. Section 211 of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2021 (division F of Public Law 116–260), prohibiting the use of funds for the construction of fencing in certain areas, shall apply with respect to funds made available in this Act and in Public Law 119–21, in the same manner as such section applied to funds made available in that Act.”
All we are asking is to maintain the status quo, as there is no issue with immigrants entering National Butterfly Center land.
Environmentalists in South Texas are worried that border wall could be built through a revered wildlife refuge courtesy of the Big Beautiful Bill.
