Grupo Cajolá North America is a US-based nonprofit on a mission to help the community of Cajolá, Guatemala thrive.

Working in close collaboration with our partner organization we provide funding and subject expertise to their initiatives that address the structural weaknesses in Cajolá's educational system, labor market, and economy. Our goal is to create educational and financial opportunities in Cajolá so that fewer community members need to emigrate abroad to sustain their families.

Exploring the world through our five senses! 🍋

Today, our preschoolers discovered how taste helps us understand different flavors by trying lemon with salt. This hands-on experience encouraged them to observe new sensations and build connections between what they taste and how their senses work together.

🌼 Learning through nature! During a recent walk, our preschoolers practiced using their senses to explore the world around them. When one child picked a flower, they talked about the different senses they use to touch, see, and smell the world around them.

Simple moments like these help children build curiosity and a deeper connection with nature. 💛

Our little explorers went on a bug hunt today! 🐞🌳 Around the grapefruit tree, they spotted tiny insects and had lots of fun.

At Tasa Dorada, our preschool community came together for a beautiful Mayan rainmaking ceremony led by Ajq’ij Cruz Alonzo.

The children carried flowers and candles as offerings, learning about tradition, gratitude, and the importance of nature within their culture. Families, teachers, and children shared this special moment together in the forest, followed by a community meal prepared with love and teamwork by the mothers.

These experiences help our children stay connected to their roots, their community, and the traditions passed down through generations.
