United Way Hamblen County Uniting people and resources to build a stronger, healthier community! United Way contributions supports 24 health and human service agencies in Hamblen County.

United Way of Hamblen County is an independent organization governed by a local Board of Directors who direct funds where they are needed the most. United Way and it's Agencies use the services of more than 200 volunteers each campaign year.

This morning the Hamblen County Good Scout Award Breakfast celebrated leadership, service, and community impact as Mike Fishman was recognized as the 2026 Hamblen County Good Scout honoree.

Congratulations, Mike, on this well-deserved honor!

Mike’s dedication to serving others and strengthening our community reflects the very values Scouting seeks to instill in future generations.

It was so impactful to see his son, Lucas Fishman, helping organize and support the fundraiser for Great Smoky Mountain Council, Scouting America, in a room full of many who support our mission, too!

For over 70 years, United Way Hamblen County has proudly partnered with Scouting America to help local youth build character, confidence, and leadership skills that strengthen our entire community.

Four evenings. Countless conversations. One shared goal: making sure every donated dollar goes where it’s needed most.

Over the course of four nights, this committee heard directly from our partner nonprofits—learning about their programs, successes, financial realities, and the challenges they’re working to meet. To our partner agencies: THANK YOU for the meaningful work you do every day and for the time you invested in presenting, educating, and engaging in this process. Your transparency and dedication help ensure informed, responsible decisions.

A HUGE thank you to our Budget & Allocations Committee volunteers for the time, care, and integrity you bring to this process. Many of you have served United Way of Hamblen County for years, and that experience shows in the thoughtful questions, careful review, and commitment to sound fiscal stewardship you bring to the table.

This process is more than funding—it’s collaboration, accountability, and community impact in action. Together, these efforts culminate in funding allocations that reflect where resources are needed most across Hamblen County.

If you’re passionate about making a difference and believe in thoughtful, responsible stewardship of community resources, we encourage you to get involved. Opportunities to serve on our Board of Directors and committees like Budget & Allocations are a powerful way to put that commitment into action.

When we come together with purpose and care, we can do so much MORE for everyone!
