Once upon a time, there was a Northwood's winter writer's retreat... Storytelling is a powerful and meaningful way to connect with and share the lessons of nature. Minnesota Master Naturalists with literary aspirations or interest across all forms and genres are encouraged to enjoy fellowship and explore avenues of ecological stewardship through the medium of writing. Participants will attend daily readings from local authors and storytellers and create/hone writing projects of their own over the course of their stay through 8+ hours of naturalist-led group workshops and generative activities.

We’re turning 20 and we couldn’t have done it without you! For two decades, we’ve been exploring, teaching, and conserving across Minnesota. Attend the Master Naturalist 20th Anniversary Gala to honor the journey we’ve taken together.

Just a reminder about our meeting this Saturday at 10am at Fort Snelling State Park
Park Visitor’s Center. Our speaker is Alex Carlson from the Metropolitan Mosquito Control- I’m sure he’ll have lots of good info!

If you signed up for National Public Lands Day through the Master Naturalist website, I will be bringing your T-shirts. As you know, the Park is hosting a “Bio Blitz” photo event through the iNaturalist website and app. which we can support either pre or post meeting. Because the Park has this scheduled via their website, there will probably be a very large crowd. Make sure you have a current vehicle Park sticker displayed.

I also wanted to give a “shout out” to one of our Chapter members, Helene Schultz who worked with Amy and Andrea on the “Master Naturalist Anniversary Quilt” which was displayed at the Conference and the State Fair! The quilt has made its rounds through out the State—- Helene orchestrated obtaining the quilt to bring to our meeting on Saturday especially for those of you who didn’t have the opportunity to see it in person! It’s definitely a special tribute to our program and those folks who helped create it!

Looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing about all the fun things that were done over the summer!
