Today we celebrate and oral hygiene importance in overall health and mental wellbeing.

GVM is grateful to serve in Africa where 42% of the region is affected by oral health diseases and individuals have very little access to dental care.

How many dentists .... and a nurse practitioner does it take to remove a jewelry bead from a student's ear?

During school wellness visits, Tori Steely discovered a few students with tiny little breads trapped inside ears. With a lot of creativity and sheer determination, all were successfully removed!

One of the joys we share is being able to sponsor students at Memuruti School. A few years ago, these young students couldn't access the local school because it was a 5 mile trek through the jungle where elephants, lions, and other beautiful creatures live.

Today, over 100 children are enrolled in the school!

GVM is honored to support Founder Carolyne in her commitment to provide the children of her village with an education.

We can't let National Children's Dental Month go by without showing the precious children who were served by committed dentists on the October trip to the Mara in Kenya.

That little guy, he may be a dentist someday as he was so curious about how every instrument worked.

This guy! He's Dr. Nicole's husband and when you're in remote facilities and equipment fails, everyone needs a Tom!

"Tom, the suction doesn't work."

"Tom, we need these instruments sterilized NOW."

"Tom...."

He's brilliant. He's calm. And oh what a HUGE help he's been to the GVM team.

OK,it's been a minute - well more like a few months - and we haven't posted anything. Helene devastated East Tennessee. I jumped on a plane for Kenya. Returned. And quite literally have been full steam ahead with no time for volunteer activities.

So, please stay tuned to hear about the rest of our 2024 Dental Service Trip in October.
