Moriarty Rotary Club

Thanks to everyone who made the Pinto Bean Fiesta Balloon Rally and Farmers Golf a rousing success this past weekend. Club members have worked hard all year to support this event. Funds raised support the nutritional "backpack" program That Moriarty/Edgewood Rotary sponsors at MESD schools. Funding also supports our scholarship program. We are so appreciative of all of our sponsors and participants. (We still have some commemorative T-shirts available. Just send us a note if you want to make a contribution.) We also want to thank the City of Moriarty and its emergency responders for your support. The backpack program also benefits from a grant from Rotary District 5520. Our friends, PDG Sunny and husband Harry along with DGE Mark crewed a balloon and played Farmers Golf in support. We also want to thank each and every one of our club members and spouses who helped set up, tear down, ride on the Rotary parade float, and staff all our enterprises. Special thanks to Radio New Mexico for your help. We look forward to doing this all again, except bigger, next year! Watch this space for more thanks to individual sponsors in future posts.

PDG Gary and Yolanda attended the "Big West" Zone 26-27 Rotary Conference in Phoenix last weekend. It was a great showcase of the work Rotary is doing around the world. The eradication of Polio has been a major project for more than 30 years. We had a report that wild Polio cases are down to just a handful in Pakistan. The group also brought lots of children's shoes to honor the flagship project of incoming RI President, Larry. There were many discussions about how Rotarians can support our Peace Initiative globally. One of the keys of Rotary is the opportunity for fellowship. Gary got to enjoy reconnecting with his PDG Peeps as well.

Another very important Rotarian of Moriarty Rotary Club, of 42 years so far in Rotary, and Past District Governor, that for all of his life has served our communities is Gary King. Come out and talk with Gary and his wife Yolanda, both sponsors of a hot air balloon. They too will we be around and about at every event. Thank you both! Have fun. See everyone soon.

This being a Rotary event, it is important when important Rotarians are present. Past District Governor and now Vice District Governor, Sunny Kellerman and her husband, Harry, has sponsored a hot air balloon so they can ride in it! See you in the sky Sat. Sept. 26!

A message for everyone: You must meet this lady if you have not. Always smiling and always so very kind, just like her name, Sunny!
Sunny has truly, 'United for Good' and 'Created Lasting Impact', in the world of Rotary International. Thank you, Sunny!

It was good to have this year's 2026 Rotarian of the Year, District Learning Facilitator, at Farmers Golf two years ago. Jen is coming out again this year! Yeah! Well see her and ALL OF YOU out here too! Sept 25&26 Fri&Sat.

Last night, at our first meeting of President Stee's Rotary year, we presented our annual scholarships to three wonderful Moriarty High School seniors. All three belong to our MESD Interact Club as well. We are very proud and honored to support such accomplished young people. And we expect great things from them in the future! We were also so happy to have Rotarian Natalie, Moriarty High School Principal, to present the students to the club.
