When I received these supplies for one of my college science courses, I never expected they’d eventually find a new home in a classroom.

After changing my major, I no longer had a use for them, so I was able to pass them along to a science classroom where they can hopefully benefit students for years to come.

I love seeing supplies get a second life and knowing they’ll continue to be used for learning and creativity!

A huge thank you to Rivers Jenkins, Miss Eastern Panhandle, for donating her leftover art supplies to Katie’s Kits! I’m so grateful for her generosity and for helping us continue our mission of getting art supplies into the hands of students and communities who need them.

It’s extra special to have the support of my Miss West Virginia sister, especially knowing she is also doing such meaningful work through her own nonprofit, River of Smiles Inc.

Be sure to follow Rivers and see what she’s doing through River of Smiles. I’m thankful for the opportunity to support one another and make a difference together.

📚Katie’s Kits has officially entered its book era!📚

We recently received a huge donation of books, and now I’m trying to figure out where they need to go!

Books can open a child’s imagination, give them a little escape, or help them discover something completely new.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned through this mission is that sometimes the best ideas come from simply asking the community what they need.

So… where should these books go? Or should we do something new with them through Katie’s Kits?

School supplies are more than just supplies.

A pencil, a box of crayons, or a blank sheet of paper can become the beginning of a new idea, a creative outlet, or a moment of healing.

I’ve made Katie’s Kits my mission because schools have given so much to me, and I want to give that support back. Every child deserves the opportunity to create, explore, and express themselves through art, regardless of what resources their classroom may have.

Through Katie’s Kits, we’re not just putting supplies into classrooms. We’re creating opportunities for creativity, encouraging imagination, and continuing to heal through art.

📚✏️ Back to school is here! 🍎🎨

One of my favorite times of year is watching students return to the classroom, ready to learn, make new friends, and discover new things. As I head back into the classroom myself as a teacher’s aide, I’m reminded of how important these spaces are for our students.

A new school year also means teachers begin noticing needs within their classrooms. If you’re a teacher, teacher’s aide, or classroom staff member in need of art supplies, please reach out to Katie’s Kits!

Have extra art supplies? Consider donating them to a teacher in your community or to Katie’s Kits, and we’ll help get them into the hands of students who need them.

Some moments truly feel like once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, and being able to deliver Katie’s Kits to Grace Christian School in Inverness, Florida was one of those moments for me.

I’m incredibly thankful to Deborah and Franz Betschart for sponsoring these kits for the students at Grace Christian School and for helping with the travel expenses that allowed me to personally deliver them. Your generosity allowed me to bring Katie’s Kits to Florida and do something I genuinely love.

I’m also incredibly thankful for the teachers who reach out when their classrooms need support and for everyone who continues to share and promote Katie’s Kits. Every person who plays a part in this mission helps me reach another classroom, another student, and another community that can benefit from the arts.

I’m grateful that what started in West Virginia is continuing to grow and reach students in Kentucky, Florida, and beyond. 🎨🎶
