Randolph County Extension is helping more residents stay active by improving access to safe, visible walking spaces across the community. Through the WV Walking Trail Signs project, permanent signage is being added to free, public locations, making it easier for individuals and families to find and use local walking routes.
By focusing on schools, community centers, and camps, the project strengthens existing spaces while creating lasting environmental change. These improvements help remove barriers to physical activity, especially for low-income families, older adults, women, and children who may have limited access to safe places to move.
With more than 500 individuals impacted, this initiative is building community capacity and supporting healthier lifestyles across rural West Virginia. By making physical activity more visible and accessible, Randolph County is creating a sustainable foundation for movement that will benefit residents for years to come.
