Though most people don't have a good phone to take nice clear pictures, we are always thrilled to see what they buy with the money we send for food outreach. When we do the outreach in Carrefour we also send money to 20 remote families so they can buy whatever they choose- as long as it is food. Then, they submit the photos. THANK YOU to those who give to make these outreach events possible. We usually do 3-5 per year and always get so many messages of thanks. People are struggling so an extra grocery order every so often lets them know we still care and God has not forgotten them.

More footage of the youth playing after English class. We hope to send down some soccer balls and other sports equipment soon. Our inventory is dangerously low.

All set up for the Mother's Day outreach tomorrow. We have invited a group of grandmothers from the community to come for a day of pampering and fellowship together. They are women our team has come across as they do community assessments and home visits. They made note and proposed this outreach based upon their observations that the grandmas/ elderly are some of the most vulnerable in our village. The celebration will start at 2 pm and everyone will enjoy dancing/music, manicures/pedicures, a movie, and a meal/drinks. Then, they will all get to choose a head scarf and tote bag for the market (thank you to those who donated them). Each will also receive a goodie bag (underwear & toiletries), and bag of rice to take home. What a treat. It is costing the organization about $35 per grandma, but what a special day it will be! Pray for no rain since we hope to do much of the program on our land under the trees. Check in tomorrow for more photos/videos and maybe even a LIVE update!

Even though this food outreach was intended to honor Mother's Day (last Sunday in May in Haiti), we included the entire family. Rice, black beans, oil, and spaghetti were given to 76 families/individuals we still keep in touch with. Many of them have youth in our school scholarship program. Others include widows and the elderly in our old community. We select those most vulnerable for food insecurity to receive this blessing thanks to the generosity of many who care. Thanks especially to for the ability to remember our neighbors in this time of great need.

The sounds of progress. Here the crew is digging the foundation for the back wall. Earlier in the day they dug part of one side. This is so exciting (and that soil coming out of the hole is beautiful). There were at least 10-12 local men working today. Praise God we can help our neighbors by providing work.

Cutting rebar to start making the pillars while we wait for the boat to arrive with cement! This is EXCITING!

Enjoy watching some free play after English class yesterday. We can't wait to have more space dedicated for the students to hang out, play, and eventually share our campus with their families. In the past we have had community events happening regularly like family movie nights, game nights, seminars, etc..... to truly offer a safe space for families to relax & learn together. But, ministry IS happening daily. Stay tuned for our big Mother's day outreach this coming weekend. Exciting things are happening at the Center even though the security wall construction project seems to be getting most of our recent posts. Praise God for ALL He is doing in Haiti both in and through Hearts United. We are blessed to have so much going on, be so busy, and thankful He has chosen us to be here in this amazing village in rural Haiti!

To celebrate Haitian agriculture the students at the remote mountain school all brought what produce they could share from their home. Fruits were put together with extra bought by school directors and donated by community members. After learning a bit about each fruit, they were cut into pieces and blended to make fruit smoothies/juice for each child to enjoy. (students brought their own water bottle to hold the juice) Take note that for this special day students got to wear street clothes rather than their traditional school uniforms as well. They report that it was a great day and all had fun while learning and celebrating all Haiti has to offer through agriculture.
