Weโre grateful to the National Celiac Association for supporting The Rack with gift cards to purchase gluten-free Barilla products for students with celiac disease. Specialized dietary foods can be expensive and difficult to access, and this support helps us better meet the needs of students experiencing food insecurity. Thank you for helping us make our pantry more inclusive and accessible.
Itโs Celiac Awareness Month, and did you know that food insecurity can present additional challenges for people with celiac disease?
When you rely on gluten-free food as your only treatment option, accessing safe foods becomes essential healthcare. Unfortunately, gluten-free foods can be harder to find and significantly more expensive, creating another barrier for people already struggling with food insecurity.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Nicholas Schultz and the student-led team at The Rack: WVU Student Food Pantry for the incredible work theyโve done building and maintaining a dedicated gluten free shelf for the community they serve.
Through a coupon donation from Barilla that we coordinated and mailed to The Rack, their team was able to purchase additional gluten-free items locally for the 95+ people they support who require gluten free food.
Access to safe food matters, and weโre so grateful to everyone helping make that possible. ๐
