Kesem at West Virginia University Kesem provides support for children through and beyond a parent or guardians cancer. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond a parent’s cancer. Its mission is to support these children with innovative, fun filled programs that foster a lasting community. Kesem programs have a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence and

strengthens their communication skills. The flagship program of Kesem, Camp Kesem, operates 131 free summer camps across the country for children ages 6 to 18 who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem at West Virginia University was founded in 2015 and supports children in the greater West Virginian community by providing a free week-long summer camp experience and year-round peer support. Camp Kesem at West Virginia University is operated by about 35 student volunteers and serves approximately 50 campers ages 6-18 per year. In 2019, Kesem served more than 10,200 children coast-to-coast—all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.

WVU Kesem is looking for a Mental Health Professional (MHP) to join us at camp 💙

Our MHP provides layered support to campers, families, counselors, and staff—helping navigate emotional and behavioral needs that may arise throughout the session.

Requirements:
• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field
• Completion of required safety, health, and camp protocol orientation
• Background check required
• Must be available for the full duration of camp and remain on camp grounds
