Announcing the winner of the MWA FIELD DAY 2023 50/50 Drawing.

You are invited to join the Monongalia Wireless Association, Mon County Amateur Club, and the WVU Amateur Radio club for Field Day, an annual event sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

Field Day is designed to allow ham radio operators the chance to demonstrate, over a specific 24-hour period, their ability to operate in the field in a national demonstration of emergency communication preparedness. During this time clubs make as many contacts as possible, while enjoying pot luck dinners, organized games, and offering the opportunity for anyone from the general public to join us, make radio contacts, and learn about the hobby.

This year we will be at the local Boy Scout Camp, Camp Mountaineer, in the pavilion and surrounding area just before you get to the Ranger Station. Hams will be available nonstop from mid morning Saturday until late afternoon Sunday to answer your questions and give you the opportunity to make contacts of your own.

Today’s radio program Talk of the Town with Dave Wilson, featuring MWA, will be uploaded to the WAJR web site as a podcast some time today.

Keep listening to WAJR 1400 AM and 104.5 FM. Dave let us know he would be taking snippets of our interview and playing them throughout the day from now through Saturday morning to help promote Field Day.

Field Day is June 24th and June 25th. Getting the word out is key to making sure the general public is aware of this event and that they are welcome to join us. Dave Wilson, host of Talk of the Town on WAJR, has agreed to help us! So on Thursday morning , June 22, sometime between 9:15 and 10:00, Jim Seckel and I will be on Dave’s show for about 10 minutes.

Spread the word. Dave Wilson is the Host, Talk of the Town is the program, WAJR is the station. They will be broadcasting on 104.5 FM and 1440 AM. We’ll discuss Field Day, ham radio, 3 clubs working together, and an invitation to the general public to join us.
