Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
At Hearts of Gold, Memorial Day holds a special meaning. Many of the veterans we serve carry the visible and invisible wounds of service, and behind each story is a shared bond of sacrifice, courage, and resilience.
Our service dogs are more than companions—they are lifelines, helping veterans regain independence, confidence, and peace in their daily lives. On this day, we remember that the freedoms we enjoy come at a profound cost, and we are deeply committed to honoring that sacrifice by supporting those who return home.
As we gather with loved ones, let us take a moment to reflect, remember, and express gratitude for those who never made it back.
Their legacy lives on—in the lives they protected and in the continued care we provide to those who served.

Did you know that yesterday was National Therapy Dog Day?

Some of our therapy dog teams traveled to WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital to meet up with to celebrate with patients and staff! and had an absolute blast meeting everyone and enjoying the goodies that Raising Cane's provided for them!

Thank you again to the Child Life Team for inviting us and to Atlas for allowing Betty to share his tennis balls.

We cannot wait for the next Hearts of Gold and WVU Golisano Children’s Hospital crossover!

💛🐾 Hearts of Gold is seeking breeder partners! 🐾💛

Hearts of Gold trains service dogs for veterans, and we’re looking to build relationships with reputable breeders who want to make a meaningful impact. We’re especially interested in Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, but we’re open to discussing other breeds with strong service‑dog potential.

We’re looking for breeders who:
✨ Are producing puppies from parents with full breed‑specific health testing
✨ Have lines known for stable, confident, service‑appropriate temperaments
✨ May be willing to provide puppies through donation or reduced cost

Please note: Tax donation letters are available only for fully donated puppies. Discounted puppies are deeply appreciated but do not qualify for donation documentation.

🐾💛 WVU Summer Visitation Therapy Dog Class 💛🐾

Do you work at WVU and think your department could benefit from the comfort and connection a therapy dog brings? Our Summer Visitation Therapy Dog Training Class is now open for WVU employees!

Here’s what you need to know:

✨ Participants must be WVU employees
✨ Departmental approval is required
✨ Dogs must pass a temperament evaluation before registering
✨ Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations
✨ The class is a hybrid format — online + in‑person
✨ The in‑person sessions will be held during the workday

If you believe your dog has what it takes to brighten someone’s day, we’d love to meet you both.
