🏈 A Special Thank You to Coach Mark ❤️💙

First and foremost, the Morgantown Mavericks want to take a moment to recognize and thank Coach Mark for everything he has done for our organization over the last five years.

When we talk about rebuilding the Mavericks program from the ground up, Coach Mark has been a huge part of that journey. He gave this program his time, energy, knowledge, leadership, and heart. Through the good seasons, the difficult moments, and everything in between, he continued to show up for our kids and help move this program in the right direction.

Coach Mark has been more than just a football coach. He has been a mentor, leader, role model, and someone our players and families could count on. The lessons he helped teach our kids went far beyond football—discipline, teamwork, accountability, confidence, respect, and what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.

As many of our Mavericks families know, Coach Mark received an amazing career promotion this year, which unfortunately meant he had to step away from coaching for the season. While we definitely miss having him on the sidelines with us, we couldn’t be happier for him or more proud to see him moving forward into this next chapter.

Coach Mark, thank you for believing in the Mavericks. Thank you for believing in our kids. Thank you for helping rebuild this program and laying a foundation that will continue to impact players for years to come. The work you put in, the relationships you built, and the memories you helped create will always be a part of this organization.

Once a Maverick, always a Maverick. ❤️💙

Football practice is canceled today.

Cheerleading practice will still be held as scheduled.

🏈 MORGANTOWN MAVERICKS WEIGH-IN INFORMATION 🏈

Weigh-ins will be Sunday, August 2nd at 3:00 PM.

📍 Location:
Preston High Mat Club (The Mat Barn)
400 Preston Dr.
Kingwood, WV 26537

⏰ Please arrive by 2:30 PM (30 minutes early) so we can get everyone checked in and organized.

The league will be starting with the younger groups and working their way up, so if everyone is ready, the process may move quickly.

Please make sure your player is on time and ready to go. If you have any questions, contact your coach.

Football Families: We are still missing registration paperwork for several players. If you have not submitted your registration forms, please complete and turn them in as soon as possible.

We are also still missing required documents for many players. Per league policy, every football player must have:
• A sports physical completed after May 1, 2026
• A copy of their birth certificate on file
If you have not already submitted these documents, please do so ASAP so your athlete remains eligible to participate.

🚨 MORGANTOWN MAVERICKS UPDATE 🚨

After carefully monitoring the air quality and considering the health and safety of our athletes, we have made the decision to CANCEL football practice for tonight.

The safety of our players will always come first, and with the current air quality conditions, we do not feel it is in the best interest of our athletes to practice outdoors.

📣 CHEER UPDATE 📣

Cheer will still meet tonight at Mountainview Elementary starting at 5:30 PM. We will be doing uniform fittings and holding our cheer parent meeting to go over important information for the upcoming season.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We appreciate all of our Maverick families and will keep everyone updated with any additional information.

📢 Practice Update – Heat Advisory

Due to the heat advisory, practice today will be shortened and will run from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM.

🏈 No helmets will be worn today.
💧 Water breaks will be every 15 minutes to help keep all athletes safe and hydrated.

Please make sure your child arrives with plenty of water and is dressed appropriately for the heat.

🚨 Practice Update – Morgantown Mavericks 🚨

Due to the upcoming weather forecast and the current flood watch, football practice has been canceled for tonight.

We will resume practice on Monday at 5:30 PM. We will also be doing helmet fittings, so please make sure your athlete arrives on time.
