Reminder: Phone applications are still being accepted for the removal of debris from private properties and waterways resulting from Hurricane Helene.

Although in-person registration concluded in mid-July, applicants may still contact 501-604-6453 to submit their applications. It may be necessary to leave a message; however, you can expect a response within one business day of your call. If no response is received, please contact the same number again and inform them that you have not yet received a return call.

To qualify, debris must:

Be a direct result of Hurricane Helene

Be located within Burke County

Pose a threat to health, safety, or property

If your property was impacted by Hurricane Helene, don't miss your chance to participate in this critical recovery program. Call 501-604-6453 today for assistance with your application or to check your eligibility.

*****This week marks the final chance for Burke County residents to apply in person for the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) program related to Hurricane Helene. After this week, residents can still apply by phone at 501-604-6453, but in-person meetings for registration will no longer be available.

Due to other scheduled events at the Foothills Higher Education Center, PPDR representatives will be available at a new location for this final week:

Burke County Commissioners' Chambers
110 N Green Street, Morganton, NC
• Tuesday, July 8 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Thursday, July 10 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

To qualify for assistance, debris must be a direct result of Hurricane Helene and located within Burke County. Additionally, removal must be in the public interest, meaning the debris poses a threat to health, safety, or property if left unaddressed.

DebrisTech personnel will be on-site to accept applications during the above times. This is the final in-person registration opportunity for Burke County’s PPDR program.

Residents who miss this week's sessions can still apply by calling 501-604-6453 for phone assistance. For more information or to check eligibility, please contact the PPDR assistance line.
