🖤❤️💚 Today, on Juneteenth, we pause to honor the courage, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.

We celebrate freedom and reflect on the work that remains to ensure that every person has the opportunity to thrive. We are especially grateful for the leadership, wisdom, creativity, and determination of Black women who have shaped our communities, opened doors for others, and continue to inspire us every day.

At AAUW Morgan Hill, we believe that equity is strengthened when every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every person belongs.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

This , we’re celebrating our alumna Miliann Kang, whose work challenges harmful stereotypes surrounding Asian American motherhood and amplifies the voices and experiences of women often left out of mainstream narratives. Through her scholarship and writing, she continues opening space for more honest conversations about identity, family, and belonging.

🏆 BIG NEWS FOR AAUW MORGAN HILL!
We are thrilled to share that AAUW Morgan Hill received 1st Place — 2026 AAUW California Branch Activity of the Year for our Young Women Leaders (YWL) program! 💫
youngwomenleaders.org
What began in 2017 as an idea and a promise has grown into a powerful student-led, AAUW member mentor-supported program now recognized across California for its extraordinary impact.
The 2025 YWL conference, All the Places You Will Go, featured inspiring conversations about social justice, science, climate advocacy, leadership, and purpose — but the conference is only the visible expression of something deeper: a year-round journey of mentorship, collaboration, and growth.
Through hands-on experience, YWL students learn to lead with confidence and authenticity as they help plan and organize their annual Youth Leadership Conference. In 2025, mentors Bobbie Erb and Carol Ferri guided and encouraged students, then intentionally stepped back so these young women could discover the strength of their own voices.
đź’› Heartfelt gratitude to every advisor, volunteer, partner, supporter, and student leader who has helped shape this extraordinary program over the years.
🏆 The award was announced and the video premiered during the AAUW California online annual event on April 18, 2026. Seventeen other California branches also submitted activities in the competition. Members celebrated together at a watch party hosted by Suman Ganapathy, who led the submission and created the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x-ZI7bLSm8

AAUW opposes the newly finalized RISE rule, which eliminates Graduate PLUS loans and imposes borrowing caps that fail to reflect the real cost of graduate education.

These limits will disproportionately impact women — especially those already navigating persistent pay gaps — by restricting access to the degrees that drive economic mobility. A master’s degree can increase earnings significantly for Black and Hispanic/Latina women, yet inequities remain — and this rule risks widening them.

As our CEO Gloria L. Blackwell makes clear, AAUW will continue to advocate for policies that expand access to opportunity, and we will keep investing in women’s futures.

RED DRESS DAY EXHIBIT Look. Listen. Bear witness.

In the Morgan Hill Library lobby, red dresses hang—quiet, powerful, impossible to ignore. Each one represents Indigenous women and girls who are missing or have been murdered. Some were just children. Some lived full lives. Every one of them was loved. Every one of them mattered.

This is not distant. This is not rare. This is happening—still—too often unseen, unheard, unresolved. We can’t change what we refuse to see.

Don’t look away.
Stand as a witness.
Help break the silence.

Come experience the Red Dress Exhibit—a moving, nationwide call to remember, to acknowledge, and to demand better.
