Last weekend, the Morgan Hill community demonstrated its incredible generosity during our three-day fill-the-boot drive. Thanks to your overwhelming support, your Morgan Hill/CAL FIRE Firefighters raised nearly $48,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

This milestone is a testament to the compassion and giving spirit that defines Morgan Hill. Thank you very much to all who donated and to the elected officials who came out to support the effort. We are honored to serve such a dedicated community and deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this a record-breaking success. Thank you!

Sperry Incident: I-5 x Sperry Rd.

This morning, a vegetation fire broke out just south of our Del Puerto station on Interstate 5, outside of the city of Patterson. Given the area’s light, flashy fuels and hot, dry conditions, these fires can spread rapidly. Thanks to the quick, well coordinated response from CAL FIRE SCU firefighters and our partners at West Stanislaus Fire Protection District, crews successfully suppressed the fire and held it to under an acre.

With the passage of Assembly Bill 2129, CAL FIRE firefighters have secured a historic victory in our long-standing fight to close the unfair wage gap between CAL FIRE personnel and our municipal counterparts.

By establishing a mandatory framework to align state salaries with local city and county market standards, this legislation tackles chronic recruitment and retention challenges by ensuring competitive compensation.

Ultimately, AB 2129 honors the shared sacrifices of first responders across California, paving the way for a stronger, more sustainable state fire service and a brighter future for the dedicated members of CAL FIRE Firefighters Local 2881.

Today, members of the CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit CAL FIRE SCU were honored on the field at Levi’s Stadium to represent the hardworking men and women of CAL FIRE. The pre-game recognition featured a spectacular flyover by our Hollister Air Tankers CAL FIRE Local 2881 BEU and our Alma Copter from the Alma Helitack Base in Los Gatos. A huge thank you to our Alma Engine and Helitack crew on hand, and to the stadium for an incredible game day! Congrats to the San Francisco 49ers on a solid win!
