The forgotten corner of Santa Clara County. 🙏

Unincorporated parts of Santa Clara County are left to a patchwork of fire districts, and in some cases, no protection at all. The San Antonio Valley is one of many areas left with no dedicated local fire protection to protect life and property.

Without a county-funded fire department, CAL FIRE has repeatedly stepped up to fill the void and respond to emergencies like the Mines Incident, which threatened lives and property in the area.

The recent Mines Incident is a powerful testament to the heroic work of the CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit. At Sweetwater Station, Firefighters respond with incredible courage, even when the next closest engine can be over 30 minutes away. Assembling the framework overnight to support an extended incident is no small feat.

To the crews working tirelessly in our most remote areas: Your dedication to keeping our community safe does not go unnoticed.
