Four short films. One beautiful estate. And a night like no other!

This Saturday, we’re bringing The Director’s Table to the Persing Estate in San Martin—four films presented throughout the estate, each paired with delicious food and w**e presented by Graze Life California.

Comedy by the pool. Horror in the w**e cave. Animation in the tree house. Drama inside the estate.

And the best part? It all supports the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival and helps us continue bringing independent film, filmmakers, and community programming to our region.

This was such a wonderful conversation with an incredible group of women bringing very different experiences and perspectives from across film and television.

Moderated by Zoë Elton, the panel featured Brigitte Mueller, Alex Caulfield, Keʻalohi Lee Lucero, and The Tal Anderson.

Zoë Elton — Moderator
Film curator, writer, interviewer, and longtime leader at the Mill Valley Film Festival, Zoë is the founder of Mind the Gap, the festival’s initiative supporting gender equity in film.

Brigitte Mueller
Film executive, producer, director, and writer Brigitte Mueller is the founder and CEO of Cirqil. Her extensive producing career includes Bride & Prejudice, Waitress, Love Sonia, Swing State, and Cellmates, among many others, and she is a longtime member of the Directors Guild of America.

Alex Caulfield
Vancouver-based writer and director Alex Caulfield creates character-driven films exploring connection, identity, and belonging. Their feature directorial debut, What Comes Next, starring Mena Suvari, Alison Thornton, and Aaron Ashmore, was PJIFF’s 2026 Opening Night film.

Keʻalohi Lee Lucero
Hawaiʻi-born filmmaker and executive producer Keʻalohi Lee Lucero has built a distinguished career as a live television director, editor, and showrunner. Her credits include The Academy Awards, The Emmys, Miss Universe, Baywatch Hawai‘i, and America’s Got Talent, where she served as Co-Executive Producer. Most recently, she executive produced the award-winning feature The Paper Bag Plan.

Tal Anderson
Emmy-nominated actor, filmmaker, author, and advocate Tal Anderson is known for playing Becca King on HBO Max’s The Pitt and Sid on Netflix’s Atypical. Her work on and off screen champions authentic representation and greater inclusion for neurodiverse and disabled performers.

Congratulations, Tal! We’re so happy you had a blast at the Emmys, and so excited to see what comes next for you!

Over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know Tal through her films and her participation at Poppy Jasper. This year, she also joined us for our Women’s Panel, sharing her perspective as an actor, filmmaker, writer, and advocate for authentic representation.

The Tal Anderson has been a passionate advocate for the autistic community, using her voice and her work to push for greater inclusion and more authentic representation both on and off screen. It’s a commitment that resonates deeply with PJIFF and our belief in the power of storytelling to change the way we see each other.

Now, as Tal receives Emmy recognition for her work on The Pitt, we’re especially excited to celebrate an artist whose work moves between independent filmmaking and television while creating meaningful change along the way.

Join us online this Sunday for a special PJIFF XR Forum, bringing together four of our VR alumni to talk about their work, the possibilities of immersive storytelling, and where this rapidly evolving medium is headed.

The conversation will be moderated by Nan Su, Chair of PJIFF’s XR Program, with PJIFF Director L. Mattock Scariot joining the discussion.

We’re excited to reconnect with filmmakers whose work has been part of Poppy Jasper and continue the conversation beyond the festival—exploring how VR, MR and AR are opening new ways for filmmakers to tell stories and connect with audiences.

One of the greatest gifts Poppy Jasper can offer emerging artists is access to accomplished industry professionals who genuinely want to help them grow.

For our first Mentor Monday Spotlight, we’re proud to feature Randy Spendlove—a multi-Grammy-winning music executive, producer, and songwriter
who served as the President of Worldwide Music and Publishing at Paramount Pictures for over 20 years. Spendlove is widely regarded as one of the most prolific and influential architects of motion picture music in modern entertainment history, having overseen the music for over 450 major motion pictures from Oscar-winning musicals to billion-dollar global franchises. Spendlove's credits include Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Top Gun: Maverick. Spendlove has also worked with music artists such as Beyoncé, U2, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Rihana, Linkin Park, Soundgarden, Lady Gaga and many more.

Randy brings an incredible depth of experience to Poppy Jasper, but what makes his involvement especially meaningful is his genuine commitment to supporting filmmakers, musicians, and artists. Through PJIFF, he shares his knowledge, creates connections, and works with members of our local creative community to help elevate their work.
