Only One Thing

God Wants Us to Ask!
If we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

1 John 5:15, NKJV
During the days of Ezekiel, God poured out His heart and shared what He wanted to do for His beloved people. Then He revealed an astonishing fact: “I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them” (Eze. 36:37, KJV). God was waiting to be asked!

My mother said that if there are any tears shed in heaven, they are going to be shed over all the answers to prayer for which no one ever bothered to ask! What blessing is God waiting to give you, but you haven’t asked Him for it?

Why does He wait for us to ask? Maybe He wants us to acknowledge our need of Him. Maybe it’s one way of getting our attention. Maybe it’s the only way we will know when the answer comes that it comes from Him, and we don’t credit ourselves or someone else for it.

“A Vessel of Beauty”

Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.•••Jeremiah 18:6, NIV

The old clay pot was
cracked,
shattered,
and
broken.

So the man took it to the Potter,
Who broke it down even further,
moistening the clay with water,
making it soft and pliable before
He put it on His wheel.

Then He began to remake it into
a vessel pleasing to Himself.

He firmly applied pressure on some areas,
touched lightly on other areas,
added more clay to a specific spot that needed filling,
and
removed clay that hindered and marred the shape He had in mind.

As He turned the wheel,
His loving,
gentle hands
never left the clay as He molded
and made it after His will.

Finally, the Potter was finished.

He took what had once been a broken clay pot off the wheel,

but now it was unrecognizable.
It had been transformed into a vessel of beauty.

The Potter put it in His showcase that others might see the revelation of His glory in the work that He does.

God is the Potter.
You are His clay.

How pliable are you to the soft,
firm pressure of His touch?

“Overcomers”
He who overcomes will inherit all this,
and I will be his God and he will be my son.
Revelation 21:7, NIV

The apostle Peter confirms that the inheritance being laid up for the Father’s children “can never perish, spoil or fade”
– it is “kept in heaven for you”
(1 Pet. 1:4, NIV).

Although our inheritance is safely stored in heaven,
there is a condition we have to meet before we can claim it:
“He who overcomes will inherit all this.”

What do you have to overcome in order to claim My Father’s House as your own?
You have to overcome . . .

your pride that refuses to acknowledge you are a sinner who needs a Savior.

your religiosity that substitutes . . .
rituals for repentance,
traditions for truth, and
orthodoxy for obedience.

your unbelief that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, the sinner’s Savior.

Overcomers place their faith in Jesus alone for salvation . . . and inherit heaven!

Fleeing an Ancient Darkness

About 30 women took Miracle into the forest, made her take off her clothes and tied her down.
“They flogged me very seriously that night,” Miracle said, crying.
“They said, ‘If you ever try to follow that pastor, the next time we will kill you.’”

Miracle headed for the pastor’s house as soon as she was untied, but the women realized where she was going and recaptured her.

They beat her again, and one of the women rubbed a crushed hot pepper in her eyes and elsewhere on her body.

Screaming, Miracle broke free from the women and continued running, eventually reaching the pastor’s home.

Realizing Miracle’s life was in danger, the pastor and his wife immediately let her in their home.

When the women arrived at the house a short time later, they ceremonially cursed the area where the pastor showed the JESUS film and led worship services.

Throughout the night and into the morning, they threw stones at the house and ordered the pastor to release Miracle so they could kill her.

Eventually, the pastor was able to take Miracle to a church, where she stayed with another pastor for about a month.
While staying at the church, Miracle placed her faith in Christ.

After her baptism, she took on the name “Miracle” to honor the way God had brought her out of darkness and into light.
Ten years after coming to faith in Christ, Miracle is part of a vibrant church and continues to grow in faith.

In December 2022, Miracle graduated from a three-year sewing program.
She said she is grateful for her sewing machine and the training she received from the school; they are helping her provide for herself and have given her a place in society that doesn’t require keeping secrets.
