Today, we say goodbye to an extraordinary soul, Steve Barker. A world traveler whose heart was as vast as the landscapes he explored, Steve dedicated his life to building bridges between cultures and communities. As a cherished board member of Morehead Sister Cities, he tirelessly supported each and every delegate from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, fostering friendships and understanding that transcended borders.

Steve's warmth and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His passion, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He not only visited Ballymena but also carried its spirit with him, creating lasting connections that will forever endure.

As we honor his remarkable life, let us carry forward his legacy of compassion and service. May his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Rest in peace, dear friend. Your journey continues in the hearts of many.

I am super excited and proud not only because the artist Abbie Grace did an amazing job captures the unique iconic elements from all three locations, but also Yangshuo is a beautiful town just 20 miles away from the university where I studied and taught for 14 years before I came to Morehead.
