Surfers, on April 10th i wrote of our expressed desire to undertake this commitment one more time, commencing on June 3rd.We spoke of the age and health of some of our team, how their health issues might cause us to not be able to undertake this endeavor down the road. Even though we've come to love Surf Up, cherishing the many memories we've made, and friends we've come to know and love, we are now faced with decisions that have to be made, like it or not. Additionally, the beach at Fort Macon has not shoaled up at all, except outside, rendering the bottom almost useless to anyone attempting to teach surfing. Basically, any waves coming ashore break right on the beach, or, if enough swell is there, about 150-200 feet outside. Not a good teaching scene at all. In this vein, our Executive Steering Committee has decided to postpone launching Surf Up indefinitely. Some of us will be on the beach from time to time, and we'll post herein when we do. But for the time being, there will be no scheduled Saturday morning sessions at Fort Macon. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but this is the way it is for the time being. Surfers,

As you know, we’re about to begin another season of Surf Up. This will be our ninth year I think. Anyhow, we’re excited about another year and we’re all looking forward to seeing you at the beach.
Some of you know that a few of our coaches are getting older now, and the prospect for new coaches coming in with us is unknown. We’re looking for commitment to this ministry, to the surfers, and to Christ. Our whole purpose is expressed in one statement: ‘we're about pura vida. Pure life, how to walk and surf in it, and how to have a personal relationship with the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the maker of the sea.' do it’!

This is who we are and why we teach life changing beliefs each and every time we’re on the beach.

The Executive Steering Committee has decided to begin the season on June3rd, the first Saturday in June. We plan to commit ourselves through July, then see where we are. Future sessions will be determined by the local schools and our surf coach’s schedules, for we need to have adequate coaches on hand to safely conduct our mission.

Our wish is that you will come be a part of Surf Up, enjoy the beach, and have fellowship with each other and the ocean. As you all know, the weather, the ocean, and our Creator will make the call each session whether or not we’ll surf.
