A heartfelt thank-you to CPM Billfish Tournament for joining us as a GOLD SPONSOR of the 2026 Carteret County Ducks Unlimited Banquet!

About CPM: The Chris Perri Memorial Billfish Tournament honors beloved Carteret County husband, father, friend, and outdoorsman who was happiest chasing blue marlin offshore. During his battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), Chris hoped his participation in a clinical trial would help others, even if it could not save him. Before his passing in January 2021, he asked those closest to him to support research in his memory.

Today, the tournament carries that wish forward by raising funds for AML research through an endowment in Chris’s name at UNC. Since its first year, the tournament has donated $100,000 to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, while the CPM Kids Tournament shares Chris’s love of fishing with the next generation. Most recently, CPM contributed the new Medical Oncology Center at Carteret Health Care.

Meet George Simpson!
Years on the Committee: 20+

Favorite Events: The banquet for its fundraising impact and the GreenWing event for its youth outreach.

Favorite Highlight: Receiving the Purcell Jones Lifetime Achievement Award last year. I was humbled and honored to be recognized by the CCDU committee.

Why Ducks Unlimited? My father attended the first CCDU banquet organized by Purcell Jones in the 1970s, so DU has always been part of my life. I believe hunters are our greatest conservationists, and DU is the best organization to protect waterfowl habitat and preserve our hunting heritage for future generations.

Thank you, George, for 20+ years of dedication to our Carteret County Ducks Unlimited chapter! Your passion for conservation, commitment to our youth, and love for our hunting heritage are a valued part of our chapter’s story.

Meet Neal Rowland! With 24 years on the Carteret County Ducks Unlimited Board of Directors, including 16 years as Chairman, Neal has helped shape our chapter into what it is today.

His favorite highlight? Creating the Purcell Jones Achievement Award in 2016 to honor Purcell’s legacy and recognize individuals who give their time to help our chapter grow stronger each year.
