Shakespeare For Kids

Shakespeare For Kids SHAKESPEARE FOR KIDS Artists and artisans work hand in hand with the children to explore many facets of Elizabethan life.

S4K offers children two full weeks of learning about how people lived, including jousting, staged combat, home arts, gardening, poetry, music, and danceduring the time when Shakespeare wrote his plays and sonnets. Children learn excerpts from the plays and present a Tudor Faire, Feast, and Dramatic Production for their families. These lessons remain with the children as they continue in their scho

ol studies, making Shakespeare’s work and the Renaissance period feel vibrant and relative to today’s world.

We are thrilled to announce our 42nd Shakespeare for Kids season!

Shakespeare’s Renaissance era will once again manifest itself in song, dance, poetry, drama, art, gardening, fight choreography, juggling, music making, costuming and lively games throughout the morns all to culminate on the Bandshell Stage with a costumed Tudor Faire, hosted by the Queen and her favorite play write. With suggestions from the children and their collective Bard adventures, actors will begin play acting scenes from Shakespeare's 36 plays. There will be some text memorization, class rehearsal with peers, and practicing at home for the final performance. No previous acting experience is necessary. They needed only lights, action, and a bevy of Bard aficionados and talents to carry the days’ adventures.

All kids ages 5-13 are welcome and lunch will be provided to the campers everyday at 12:00 pm!

Congratulations to John, a living treasure in our time.

The historical pageant, commissioned to celebrate San Francisco Opera's centennial, emerged broad, exciting and occasionally opaque in its world premiere.

Majestically unique!

The splendid recent staging of 'The Marriage of Figaro' at Opera San José transferred the action to a milieu one observer knew well — and the other not at all.

TEA PARTY TODAY!
The teddy bears taught the kids how to behave at a proper tea party! And all throughout lunch we heard, “pardon my reach!” And “Pardon me, would it trouble you to perhaps pass me the sugar?”.

I liked that a little bear explained, if someone asks you to pass something, pass it right away and do not serve yourself from it first! Great tips, little bear! 👍❤️
