Kanabec County 4-H will be hosting a Kick Off TODAY, October 10th, at the Nelson Farm from 12-2pm. There will be club/project tables with information and 4-H swag. Come on out to learn and ask questions about 4-H - there is no obligation to join, but we can help you sign up at the event.

At 2pm, Cooper will be bringing us on an information farm tour of his poultry projects. After Cooper's tour, we will take a walking tour of the Nelson farm - a direct to consumer pasture based farm with chickens, pigs, turkeys, and cattle.

Youth in grades 6+ are invited to Central Lakes College in Staples on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. for a day of hands-on learning!

Learn about food safety, carcass grading, meat science & anatomy, careers in the industry, and what happens from farm to table—all while learning from industry professionals!

$10/person - includes lunch & supplies.
Space is limited. Register by October 19 in 4-HOnline.

Remember!! Our 4-H Kickoff event is THIS SATURDAY at Nelson Grass Farm: 1622 Garden St. Ogilvie
There will be information tables for all of our active clubs as well as the prominent project areas in the county: Horse, Livestock, Dog, and Shooting Sports!

New and returning families are welcome, sign up for 4-H at the event!

A tour of Nelson Grass Farm will begin at 2pm.

Congratulations to the Kanabec County riders who represented our program at the State 4-H Horse Show!

Bridget B competed in grade 11 game classes.

Julia B won her Training Class for Step 2.

Osten B competed in grade 12 game classes. He placed 10th in poles.

Anna G rode in grade 7 pleasure classes. She placed 7th in Ranch Pleasure and 7th in Western Showmanship.

Sierra S rode in grade 11 pleasure classes. She placed 2nd in Western Horsemanship, 5th in Western Showmanship, and 5th in Western Pleasure.

Nicole T rode in grade 10 pleasure classes. She placed 2nd in Western Pleasure, 3rd in Western Horsemanship, 7th in English Pleasure, and 10th in English Equitation. Nicole was also the Champion for the Public Speaking contest and will go on to represent Minnesota 4-H in Public Speaking at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Round up in Louisville, KY.

Congratulations Kanabec County 4-Hers!

Nicole took 1st place in her Suffolk Feburary Ewe Lamb class and Reserve Champion Suffolk Ewe Lamb.

Megan took Reserve Champion Suffolk Yearling Ewe.

Parker won her Jr Doe Kid class and was a top 20 finish for interviews

Julia took 4th in her Dry Yearling Doe class.

Abby A was 4th in her Dmall Breed Sr Doe class and was an interview finalist.

Osten took a blue with his Breeding Pen of Rhode Island Reds.

Abby J took a blue with her Breeding Pen of Barred Rocks and 11th in showmanship!
