This is a similar picture of what I am hoping to achieve, when my project is complete, Including the MaKayla's Mission logo on the Duffle Bag.

I would like to introduce myself; my name is MaKayla Barstow of Moosup / Plainfield CT. I am a Master Sergeant with the Natchaug River Young Marines of Danielson CT.

I am currently doing a community service project for my Distinguished Order of Merit award for Young Marines, to benefit children in need within the foster care system in Windham County, Connecticut.

My project consists of making care packages filled with items such as clothes, school supplies, hygiene items, a blanket, and a stuffed animal. My reason for doing this project is because some of these children may be forced to leave their current situation in an emergency manner, and oftentimes only leave with the clothes on their back, or very minimal items in a garbage bag. My project plan is by giving these children the care packages, it will help them realize that they have something to call their own. These care packages are going to be put in a duffle styled bag. Should the need arise for them to leave again, they will have their own bags to put their stuff in. The bags will have “MaKayla’s Mission” on the outside of the bag, to make it personalized for these children in need. I am working with a local Church and Department of Children & Families on this project. The range of children I am hoping to help the most is ages 5-12, with the average being age 8. With the Covid-19 pandemic the numbers have increased in the State of CT Department of Children & Families in Windham County, where they are needing care packages to help these children.

I am looking for any item or monetary donations that you could contribute to MaKayla’s Mission, to help make these care packages. My goal is to achieve 100 packages; however, it could be much more when the project is complete. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
The Young Marine Program is a 501 C (3), so your contribution would be tax deductible and Tax forms are available upon request. Monetary donations can be made payable to MaKayla Barstow / MaKayla’s Mission. or by Paypal

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and I’m sure the children will enjoy your donation.
I can be reached at 860-455-5990, or by the above email. You may also contact our Natchaug River Young Marines Unit Commander; Joseph Couture at [email protected]

Sincerely,
