When I was a younger leader, I was stuck in "Yes, BUT..." thinking:

"Yes, I want to grow as a leader, BUT I don't have time"
"Yes, I want to make a bigger impact, BUT what if I fail?"
"Yes, I want to invest in myself, BUT it costs too much"

At an NCAA Leadership Conference I was introduced to a different way of thinking..."Yes AND!" became my new operating system:

"Yes, I want to grow as a leader AND I'll make the time"
"Yes, I want to make a bigger impact AND I'll start where I am"
"Yes, I want to invest in myself AND I'll find a way"

The shift from BUT to AND opened doors I didn't even know existed. It led me to John Maxwell's leadership training, to hosting Live2Lead events, to connecting with incredible leaders in our community.

I remember it like it was yesterday...the very first time I learned from . It was titled "Knowing the Difference Between Players and Pretenders" and it was on a cassette tape.

I never dreamed that today I would be a Founding Member of the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team and that I'd have the opportunity to help leaders and organizations develop their leadership skills.
