🔥🧑‍🚒 Moorhead Fire Fighters IAFF Local 1323 endorses Charley Johnson for Moorhead City Council Ward 4!

Our Union leadership had the opportunity to meet with Charley and discuss several issues that are important to our members and to the future of Moorhead. While we are still getting to know Charley, we appreciated his thoughtful responses, his willingness to listen, and his understanding of the challenges facing a growing city.

One issue that stood out to us was Charley’s clear support for Fire Station 3 to become a reality as soon as possible. He recognizes that Moorhead’s continued growth, particularly to the south, makes additional fire service capacity a necessity—not a luxury. He also supports pursuing federal funding opportunities, including the SAFER grant in 2027 to help provide the staffing needed to support the 3rd Fire Station and also get a Ladder truck staffed every day in the City. Something that is needed right now.

We were also encouraged by Charley’s approach to working with City employees and Union leadership. He recognizes that a City Council Member is not “the boss” of city staff and expressed support for elected officials having opportunities to hear from Union leadership on critical issues that affect their department and working conditions. We believe respectful communication between elected officials, City leadership, and Union leadership that represent the City’s employees is essential to making informed policy decisions and the overall direction of the City.

Moorhead is growing, and the decisions made by the next City Council will have a lasting impact on public safety, city services, and the people who provide those services. Based on our conversation with Charley, we believe he is committed to responsible growth, strong City services, and making sure Moorhead is prepared for the future.

🔥🚒 Moorhead Firefighters are proud to announce our endorsement and support to re-elect Deb White to represent Ward 3 on the Moorhead City Council!

Deb is an honest, straight-to-the-point leader who always delivers the truth with courage, respect and class. She listens, she works hard, and most importantly, she stands up for the people of Moorhead.

During the 2026 budget process, Deb fought to increase staffing in the Moorhead Fire Department. That advocacy helped secure funding for three new, much-needed Firefighters — a real investment in the safety of our community and the Firefighters who answer the call every day when Moorhead needs help.

We need leaders who respect working families, values the labor that keeps Moorhead moving, and understand that public safety shouldn’t be treated as an afterthought or an empty political promise.

Deb understands that investing in public safety is an investment in Moorhead’s future. She has shown that she will stand with working people, support our first responders, advocate for transparency in local government, and make decisions based on what is best for our community.

🔥🚒 Moorhead Firefighters are proud to endorse Heather Nesemeier for Ward 2 on the Moorhead City Council!

Heather Nesemeier has proven her leadership abilities by working through many challenges while serving in her role on the City Council. She has done so with kindness, thoroughness, and a fierce determination to dig in and fight for what’s right when it matters most.

Heather championed for improving public safety in Moorhead’s 2026 budget. Her willingness to listen, learn, and engage with the people doing the work and the Unions that represent them, played a key role in securing three new, much-needed firefighter positions in the 2026 budget.

We know that Heather has the passion, vision and heart needed to move our City forward. These are some of the reasons why Moorhead Firefighters Local 1323 support Heather for Moorhead!! 🔥🚒

🔥🚒 Moorhead Firefighters proudly endorse Sarah Opitz for Moorhead City Council, Ward 1!

We’ve gotten to know Sarah and have been deeply impressed by her story, her perseverance, and the way she has embraced the support of the Moorhead community.

Sarah understands that a strong community starts with keeping people safe. She is committed to making sure Fire, Police, and EMS have the staffing, resources, and strategic placement they need to protect every resident and every neighborhood in Moorhead.

She also understands that Moorhead is at an important crossroads — with an opportunity to grow while preserving the community identity that makes our city special.

As Sarah says:

“I believe our city is now preparing to write its own next chapter. We have an opportunity to grow, strengthen our identity, support local entrepreneurs, improve transportation and infrastructure, protect our neighborhoods, and distinguish Moorhead as a welcoming and people-centered community.”

Del Rae is a leader who believes in community, listens to people, and brings us together. She has shown her commitment to open and transparent governance by making herself accessible and engaging directly with residents through her popular “Coffee with the Mayor” events during her last term as Mayor.

Del Rae also understands that a strong city starts with supporting the people who keep it running. She has spoken about the importance of listening to City employees and improving support for their needs and working conditions.

Moorhead is ready for positive change, and we believe Del Rae Williams is the leader who can make that change happen.
