Big thanks to Jeff “Slick” Miller for covering the meal expenses for the Moorhead American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame Banquet held in March.

The American Legion Club also received a generous $1000 donation from Ronald Marvin Johnson to support our baseball teams.

We have some fundraisers going at this time help support the program. We have a gun raffle (with a cash option), tickets are $20 each with the drawing to be held on June 28. Also on June 28th there will be a steak fundraiser being held at the Legion- tickets are still available. Lastly, on June 30 there will be two Military Appreciation Games held between the Blues/Golds and Dilworth. The players will be wearing special military jerseys for the game (which the players will keep). For $50 you can sponsor a jersey in honor of someone of your choosing. All funds go back to the program. Send a message to us with any questions!

Jim Emmerich was my teammate on the 1976 Golds and 1977-78 Blues.

Great memories,including a 1977 high school road trip to Chaffee,ND to take on the mighty Mustangs. Jim and I were juniors(he pitched, I caught) and joined the sophomore team for this epic battle. Dirt infield, short fence,and wind blowing out at 30 mph. I believe we won 20-8 despite a homer or two by Mustang Scott Radloff who was later drafted by the Cincinnati Reds.

You’re invited to celebrate the completion of the first phase of upgrades at Matson Field with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 10.

The program will begin at 4:30 pm, just before the first pitch of the evening’s game at 5 pm. Community members, baseball fans, and supporters of youth and amateur athletics are encouraged to attend, take part in the celebration, and enjoy an early look at the improvements.

The first phase of upgrades at Matson Field replaced the existing metal bleachers with a grandstand to enhance comfort for fans and visitors as well as a new press box. These improvements reflect a continued commitment to maintaining high-quality recreational amenities for the Moorhead community.

We have another jersey sponsor for our June 30th Military Appreciation Night. Jonathan Matter(2001-2002 Blues) is sponsoring jerseys for both Blues and Golds in memory of World War 2 veterans Wayne Plummer, Arnfred Gronbeck,and Ralph Matter.
