☀️ DAY 3 UPDATE ☀️

Our community continues to show up in a big way for local children and families facing summer hunger!

Current Summer Hunger Food Drive totals:

🥫 3,372 pounds of food donated: 23% of our 15,000-pound goal

💙 $27,000 raised
(Including a generous $20,000 matching gift!)
📈 68% of our $40,000 goal

A special thank you to the Civitan Club of Lake Norman for their generous $1,000 donation! Their gift will help sponsor a day of breakfast and lunch for children participating in our summer meal programs.

We're also grateful to Brightway Insurance, The Zanfini Family Agency, Mooresville for sponsoring lunch yesterday and helping ensure local children have access to nutritious meals while school is out.

This is what community looks like. Churches, businesses, civic organizations, families, and individuals all coming together to make sure no child goes hungry this summer.

Because of the generosity of our community, we've already collected:

🥫 2,964 pounds of food
📈 20% of our 15,000-pound goal

💙 $26,612 raised
(Including a generous $20,000 matching gift!)
📈 67% of our $40,000 goal

A special thank you to the amazing community at St. Therese Catholic Church, who kicked off the week by delivering five carloads of food to help local children and families facing summer hunger.

These numbers aren't just pounds and dollars. They represent meals for children who no longer have access to school breakfasts and lunches, support for families trying to make ends meet, and a community that continues to show up for one another.

But we're not done yet!

What a way to kick off our Summer Hunger Food Drive! ☀️🥫

Today, community members, volunteers, partners, and supporters came together to launch a week dedicated to ensuring local children and families have access to food all summer long.

The need doesn’t stop when school lets out. For many children, summer means losing access to the meals they rely on during the school year. That’s why we’re working to collect 15,000 pounds of food, enough to fill a school bus, and raise $40,000 to support summer meal programs and food assistance throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make our kickoff event a success. This is just the beginning!

Our Summer Lunch Food Truck was a hit today! ☀️🚚

Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time to help us serve breakfast and lunch to children in our community.

One mother at an apartment complex we visited shared, “The food truck helps me so much over the summer. I work from home, so it helps provide a quick lunch for my children and it’s especially helpful between paychecks.”

Stories like hers are exactly why FeedNC's Summer Hunger Food Drive is so important. When school is out, many children lose access to the meals they rely on throughout the year. The food and funds donated during our Summer Hunger Food Drive help make programs like our Summer Lunch Food Truck possible, ensuring children and families have access to nutritious meals when they need them most.

Beginning June 15, our goal is to collect **15,000 pounds of food and raise $40,000** to help support local families this summer.

📣 The FeedNC Food Truck is back on the road for our Children's Summer Lunch Program!

Today, June 10, we're serving lunch items to children at:

📍 Stonecreek Apartments | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Piedmont Pointe | 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

When school is out, many children lose access to the meals they depend on during the school year. Through our Summer Lunch Program, we're helping bridge that gap by bringing food directly into the community.

For many of our displaced neighbors, the most helpful items are lightweight, easy-to-carry essentials that require little to no preparation.

This summer, we're especially in need of:
☀️ Sunscreen
🦟 Bug spray
🧊 Neck towels

Along with:
🥤 Meal replacement drinks & bars
🐟 Tuna & chicken pouches
🍎 Squeezable applesauce
💧 Hydration packets
…and more.

These simple items can make a big difference in helping someone stay nourished, comfortable, and safe during the hottest months of the year.
