Year 2 of taking the pack to Raven’s K**b for Cub Scout Resident camp. The theme this year was Rowdy Raven’s Western Adventure. Rowdy Raven was a bad guy and the kids were all on the lookout to find him.

We had 3 scouts participate in the Wolf program and did activities like hiking, archery, fishing, swimming, leather working, making paper airplanes, learning about camping and tying knots.

We had 4 scouts participate in the Weeblo program and they got to go climbing, bouldering, hiking up to the k**b, shooting BB’s, swimming, play ultimate frisbee, and build a bird house.

Our 7 AOLs that came participated in the Arrow of Light program and got to go climbing, bouldering, hiking up to the k**b, shooting BB’s, swimming, play ultimate frisbee, and learn about first aid.

We also had 3 Den Chiefs attend from troops 5171 and 171, they stood tall as leaders for our cubs showcasing their experience in scouting by guiding our cubs through their activities and helping to keep our campsite in order.

We earned the distinction of Honor Pack at the event and came home with two new ribbons to display on our pack flag. Each camper got a cool new patch and the ones that hiked to the top of the k**b got a pin.

Congratulations to all of our scouts on their achievements this year! We had a great advancement ceremony. Thanks to all of our scouts, leaders and parents for making this our best year ever.

Looking forward to seeing what this group will accomplish over the next year.

What a turnout for the 2025 Pack Campout at Congaree National Park! Between fishing, kayaking, camp skits, dodgeball, hicking and a wide array of GREAT food! Everyone had a great time!

We had a great turnout for the Pack 171 2025 Pinewood Derby. So much fun watching the scouts excited as they watched the cars they worked so hard on zoom down the track!

Congratulations to all of our leaders for all that you do to keep our pack running! Your hard work has been seen and this year we were recognized as pack of the year! This is not something that was just pulled off by one or two people but the village effort of everyone working together to make our pack the best pack in the area. Cubmaster and Comittee Chairs cannot pull off everything we do it was a group effort. We have a special patch that we will be giving out to all of our scouts and leaders for your uniforms for being apart of the great year we had last year it will be presented at our next pack meeting.

Aditionally I want to give congratulations to Doug Blanton for having completing his tenure and other requirements to receive his Cubmaster Key award and it was also announced that Doug will be earning the Unit Leader of merit award at the council wide recognition ceremony next month for everything he did for our unit in his tenure as Cubmaster.

We are looking forward to doing more amazing things this year and hope to keep the Pack of the Year as an ongoing tradition for our unit.
