I recently had the privilege of visiting the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia. Brother George Washington was initiated into Freemasonry in 1752 and later became the Charter Master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge #22. As a Mason and as our first President, he also helped shape the nation in a deeply symbolic way when he laid the cornerstone of the U.S. Capitol in 1793 during a Masonic ceremony. From the Capitol to the Memorial on Shooter’s Hill, Washington’s life and legacy continue to reflect the values of service, leadership, and brotherhood.

Happy Father’s Day from Poplar Springs Masonic Lodge #415!

Today we honor the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and all the men who lead by example, serve with humility, and help shape the next generation. South Carolina Freemasonry is known for making good men better, and that long tradition reminds us of a lasting truth, the values we pass down matter.

At its best, Masonry encourages us to be builders of character, protectors of our homes, and servants to our communities. On this Father’s Day, we celebrate the men who strengthen families, uplift others, and leave a legacy of faith, hope, and charity.

From all of us at Poplar Springs, we wish every father and father figure a blessed and joyful Father’s Day.

Today, on Memorial Day, all of us here at the lodge pause with heavy hearts and deep gratitude to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is one that can never truly be measured, because they gave everything so that others could live in freedom and peace.

We do not take this day lightly. Behind every name remembered is a family who lost someone they loved, and a story of courage, duty, and selfless service. Today we honor not only the fallen, but also the families who continue to carry that loss with strength and grace.

May we never forget the cost of freedom, and may we always live in a way that honors those who paid it for us. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

BBQ sale this Saturday at Poplar Springs #415 AFM Lodge!

Come grab some good food and support the lodge. Pulled pork, baked beans, and slaw will be ready. This fundraiser is for our Backpack Drive in preparation for back-to-school. Summer is just beginning, but it will be here before you know it. We hope to see you there!
