Good Friday isn’t just a date on the church calendar. It’s a season of life.

The pink slip. The diagnosis. The relationship that just fell apart. The version of yourself you had to bury before you could become who you are now.

The ancient liturgy names what we already know in our bodies: loss is not an interruption of the story. It’s woven into it. Order. Disorder. Reorder. Life. Death. Resurrection.

This rhythm was literal before it was liturgical.

Friday keeps happening. And so does Sunday, butt you can’t get to Sunday by skipping Friday.

Swipe to sit with it & know you’re not alone.

The culture you build will always reflect the wounds you haven’t healed. That’s not an accusation. It’s an invitation.
When leaders do the hard, humble work of looking at their own story, everything changes—who gets a seat, who gets heard, who gets to lead.
The work starts inside.

Love is Anarchy.

Not the chaos kind. The kind that refuses to ask permission from empire.

Jesus healed outside the proper channels. Sent people out with nothing. Affirmed the woman who took her healing at the hem of his garment — bypassing every law that said she couldn’t. The Sermon on the Mount wasn’t self-help. It was a blueprint for living as if Rome’s power was already expired.

That’s the love kind of anarchy. And we were made for it.

“You’re burning down the church.”

Sure. Okay.

This accusation has always been the institution’s first line of defense – conflate critique with hatred, make accountability feel like betrayal. But if an honest conversation can burn it down, you weren’t protecting the church. You were protecting the brand.

The thing Jesus had in mind?
It can endure the truth.

Swipe to reflect.

The classmate who messaged me to warn me about the affirming church I was preaching at? He thought he was protecting the faith. But I keep coming back to Matthew’s genealogy—Ruth, Rahab, Bathsheba, pagan astrologers.

God has always had a thing for the people religion said don’t qualify.

Maybe that’s the point.

Jesus didn’t come to give us a checklist. He came to show us a different way of being human altogether.

The Sermon on the Mount isn’t spiritual advice for good people trying harder. It’s a blueprint for a completely different kind of community—one that centers the margins, refuses to weaponize God, loves without calculating who deserves it, and builds on action instead of belief.

These aren’t pro-tips for self-improvement. They’re an invitation to participate in something that looks nothing like empire.

An invitation to be truly free.

Empire has always needed you to call its violence peace.

To look at the crushing weight of taxation, land seizure, and bodies on crosses and see—order. Stability. Civilization.

Jesus walked into that arrangement and named it out loud. Not to start a war. To end the pretending.

The sword in Matthew 10 was never meant to be wielded by his followers. It was meant to be recognized—and refused.

Grief is not a failure of faith—it’s also not your enemy.

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is stop rushing toward the mountaintop long enough to sit in the valley, tell the truth, and let what we’ve carried finally be seen.

Tennessee redrew the map around Memphis to push Black voters to the margins. That’s the opposite of WWJD. There’s a word for that.

The kingdom of heaven isn’t a place where the historically excluded finally get a seat at the table. It’s a place where the table gets moved—to where they already are.

If your theology or your politics don’t have you standing with people whose backs are against the wall, you’re not operating in the kingdom Jesus described. You’ve just baptized the empire.

The security of the institution is real. The salary, the title, the answers to every question—leaving it feels like stepping off a cliff.

But some of us already know we don’t belong there.

This is for the ones sitting with that tension right now—the ones whose stomach tightens every time they imagine what it would cost to actually live what they believe. To love their neighbor not as a program, but as a practice. To let go of the empire’s ladder and start building something that looks more like the Kingdom.

You’re going to be afraid. That’s not a sign you’re doing it wrong.
Don’t let go of your faith. Don’t look down at everything you’re losing.

Keep climbing. There’s so much beauty up ahead.
