As we get ready for our 2026–2027 GCYLS Show Season Mandatory Meetings this week, there are a few important things we’d like everyone to know ahead of time.
We don’t get the opportunity to explain some of these important details until after everyone has signed in and completed their paperwork. Because of that, we want everyone to understand these requirements beforehand so the paperwork can be done correctly and completely.
Here are a few things that are especially important and/or commonly misunderstood:
SIGN-IN SHEET
Please print clearly and make sure all requested information is filled in completely.
You will also need to indicate on the sign-in sheet whether you plan to participate in 4-H, FFA, or BOTH. This is explained in more detail below.
ENTRY FORM
The entry form is extremely important! Please:
-Print clearly and legibly.
-Make sure your mailing address is correct.
-Double-check that your birthdate is correct.
-Be sure every section is completed.
Every year, we have to contact exhibitors afterward to get missing information so their forms can be completed. Please help us avoid that by taking a few extra minutes to review your form before turning it in.
4-H & FFA MEMBERSHIP
There is one question on the entry form that seems to trip everyone up, but it’s actually pretty simple!
By rule, all exhibitors must be a bonafide member of at least one local organization: 4-H or FFA. If they are old enough, exhibitors are encouraged to participate in both. There are great benefits to being involved in both organizations!
However, on the entry form, you must select ONE organization that you will commit to following through with for the entire show season—from now through the show ring.
This is important because you must maintain your bonafide membership status throughout the season in order to remain eligible to show.
-CONSENT (Notarized) FORM
We do have a form to be notarized and will have Notaries available. However, if you are new or fairly new, you will need to have your ID with you just in case our notaries don’t know you personally.
-GCYLS FAMILY MEMBERSHIP DUES
There is a $25 family membership dues that is required to be paid. You will have the ability to pay at the Mandatory Meeting. Check or cash is accepted. If you aren’t able to pay that night you will have through your selected animal’s weigh-in or identification OR the GCYLS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DINNER MEETING whichever comes first. More will be explained about this at the mandatory meeting.
