Preparations have been underway this week at Veterans Memorial Park as we get ready to honor our fallen soldiers this Memorial Day. Flower pots have been placed, solar lights set into position, and flag poles reset in preparation for the upcoming holiday.

New donor bricks from our memorial brick fundraiser program were also placed. Since the beginning of building Veterans Park, these bricks have represented the individuals, families, and supporters whose contributions helped make this project possible.

This week also brought a special reminder of why places like this matter. My daughter, along with my 1- and 2-year-old grandchildren, came to help place solar lights. Their little hands worked hard trying to push the stakes into the ground, and they took their job very seriously. Moments like these remind us that remembrance, service, and community are things passed from one generation to the next.

As Memorial Day approaches, we invite the community to stop by, reflect, and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Lest we forget.

What a wonderful way to begin Mooers’ America 250 journey 💙🇺🇸

Our America 250 Coloring Contest brought so much joy to Mooers School this week. Seeing the students’ excitement, creativity, and pride was a reminder that history truly comes alive when it’s shared with our youngest community members.

Selected student artwork was recognized during a special surprise visit, and the smiles said it all. These colorful pieces now help launch Mooers’ participation in America 250, leading us toward our community commemoration in 2026.

Thank you to Mooers School for welcoming us, to the students for their beautiful work, and to everyone who helped make this a meaningful and positive start. This contest marks just one of many ways our town will celebrate history, community, and connection as we move forward together.

More to come as America 250 planning continues!

A New Year at Veterans Park — Honoring Service, Remembering Sacrifice

As we step into a new year, Veterans Park offers a quiet and powerful place to pause and reflect. It reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through the service and sacrifice of generations of Americans — from the earliest patriots of the Revolutionary era to the veterans of more recent conflicts.

As we prepare for the America 250 commemoration, Veterans Park will play an important role in helping us honor that legacy. It connects our local history to the larger American story and reminds us that Mooers has always answered the call to serve.

This New Year, we extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans and their families. May the year ahead be one of remembrance, unity, and renewed commitment to the values they defended.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and hopeful New Year, as we look forward to honoring our veterans and our shared history throughout the year ahead.

🎄 Merry Christmas from Mooers Veterans Memorial Park 🎄

This Christmas season, we pause in a place created to honor service, sacrifice, and love of country — and we look toward the future those sacrifices made possible.

The little one holding the “Merry Christmas” sign in this photo is my youngest granddaughter, just 10 months old. She represents the generations who will grow up benefiting from the freedoms our veterans protected and preserved.

Mooers Veterans Memorial Park stands as a living tribute — not only to those who served in the past, but to the values they defended: family, community, and hope.

To our veterans, our military families, our volunteers, and all who help care for this special place — thank you.

From our hearts to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas filled with peace, gratitude, and reflection.

I was able to put two more bricks down in the veteran park today. And do more cleaning before winter. I will be able to continue placing bricks until the ground is frozen. One of the bricks today was donated by Julie Lancto a very close friend of Denise Sample. I knew as soon as she donated the brick where it would be placed. Patrick with his Moms approval had donated a brick for his Dad, George last fall. To the Sample family: we are truly sorry for your loss. Thank you to your Dad for his service and thank you to your Mom for her community service. As always thank you to our Veterans past and present for their service.

The summer season done. First snowfall on Veterans Day! Time to put the flags and solar lights away! It’s a process and I had help with it this year. Thank you Jason R. For the help. Couldn’t feel my fingers or toes by the time all was removed and put away. The flags are washed and the solar lights cleaned and put away for next May. 2026 will be a special year for all towns across the U.S. and Mooers will be part of that. Join our 250 planning group, we meet every 4 th Tuesday of the month and we would appreciate your thoughts and ideas. I would like to thank the Mooers supervisor and Board members for approving the position of Mooers Maintenance personnel Jason Rhinhart (hope I didn’t spell that wrong) a much needed employee for maintaining the many functions of our Towns grounds and places. Volunteers are exhausted and the highway Department was overextended both lacking time to do all that was needed. A great move towards improving the aesthetics of our hometown. As always thank you to our Veterans for serving and I hope all of the Veterans had a great Veterans Day. Next will be cleaning and carefully putting our Hero banners away for next year!

🇺🇸 Clergy & Chaplains Dedication Ceremony – A Beautiful Success

Today’s Clergy & Chaplains Dedication at Mooers Veterans Park was truly a heartfelt success. Our past chaplains and clergy were honored with a full dedication ceremony recognizing their lifelong service and spiritual leadership.

Whether serving as chaplains or clergy, each of these remarkable individuals is a seasoned veteran in their respective field. Their extensive experience has guided our community through times of both joy and hardship — offering faith, compassion, and steadfast leadership to all.

We extend our sincere gratitude to VFW Post 1418, American Legion Post 912, Jason R., our new maintenance personnel for the Town of Mooers, the Beautification Committee, the Mooers Library, and the Ladies of St. Ann for their help in making this day possible.

A special thank you to our honored guests — Father Jay, Monsignor Duprey, Pastor Gillette, Father Shnob, and Father Vinnie — for their presence, prayers, and continued dedication to serving the people of our community.

Thank you all for helping us celebrate those who continue to serve both God and country.

Clergy Dedication
At the Veterans Park
Dress warm it will be chilly, at least the weather report is not calling for rain! This dedication is a great way to honor our Mooers Chaplains and Clergy of Mooers. A couple photos below of the preparations that have been taking place throughout the week.

We are getting excited about the Mooers Clergy Dedication on November 8th at 11:00 AM. We have 28 memorial clery bricks that have been donated. Please contact anyone in the town offices of a clergy you may want to memorialize and have added to the dedicated walkway. The American Legion post 912 and VFW post 1418 will be conducting this dedication ceremony. Let’s show our clergy how Mooers supports their service.
End of the season tasks: removing Flags and poles, removing solar lights. I would like to do this either Saturday afternoon or Sunday. I will also be removing the solar lights and flags in the cemetery. I don’t think it would take long with help. I need to also wash the flags and wipe down the poles and solar lights. The benches all need new silicone so I will be organizing that as well. Not hard work just tasks that create longevity for the items. There are still edging pieces that need to be added to the walkway that was installed this summer. So could be a few hours of work, less with help.
My goal this year was 100 more bricks , we are at 70 , so close! I will post a photo of the clergy bricks that have been donated so far. If you dont see your favorite clery consider donating for him or her.
As always thank you to all the men and woman who have served this country. God Bless you all.
