Help Restore a Home and a Heart
We want to share a story about someone very special to a local family in our community.
Last fall, during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives, Marlo served as the hospice aide who cared for their 97-year-old grandmother as she transitioned. If you’ve ever walked that road with a loved one, you know hospice care is not just a job — it is sacred, emotional, and deeply human work. Marlo showed up with compassion, dignity, patience, and heart. Her care will never be forgotten.
Recently, the family learned that while Marlo was spending her days caring for others, she was facing hardship at home. In early 2025, a fire broke out in her kitchen while she was at work. Since then, she has been living with her elderly mother-in-law in a home with a fire-gutted kitchen, no electricity in portions of the house, exposed wiring, and insulation extending into other living areas. She also lost beloved pets in the fire. Due to insurance complications, she has not received coverage for repairs.
A licensed contractor and electrician have assessed the damage.
• Contractor repairs: $27,000 (with $6,000 already donated by the contractor)
• Electrical rewiring: Approximately $3,500
• New appliances: $3,500
Generous neighbors have already stepped in — donating vinyl flooring, insulation, and electrical materials. Now, the community is coming together to help complete what’s needed to make her home safe and livable again.
