A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of the region until 10 pm this evening. Wind gusts up to 65 mph and frequent lightning will be the main hazards, though some isolated large hail will also be possible.

Elk Lake Fire Company teamed up with some surrounding mutual aid companies to put on a Mock Car Crash in preparation for the upcoming Prom & Graduation season this morning. We would like to remind everyone to never get behind the wheel after you’ve been drinking not only during the celebratory seasons, but even day to day. It is a selfish act with a magnitude of repercussions.

We’d like to thank the other first responders that took time out of their day to help put this on. A huge thank you goes out to The Elk Lake School for hosting us. Most importantly we’d like to thank the kids for paying attention to us and this serious topic. Always remember, your family rather have you make the call for a ride than see you in a situation like this. Have fun at Prom tomorrow, remember to be safe, and make some of the best memories in a positive way!
